White's Three of Swords. Rider White Tarot deck - swords, card descriptions
They pierce the heart. Cloud and rain in the background.
Straight position:
DIVINATION MEANINGS: absence, moving, delay, separation, rupture, scattering, everything that the image symbolizes by its appearance.
Reverse position:
REVERSE MEANINGS: mental alienation, error, loss, distraction, disorder, confusion.
ASTROLOGICAL SIGNIFICANCE: Mars/Moon as a symbol of hurt feelings. In aspect with Mercury - a decision made contrary to feelings.
THREE OF SWORDS
Because of the design, this card is often considered a symbol of grief, mainly due to unhappy love. It has, of course, such an aspect, but this is far from exhausting its content. The main meaning of the Three of Swords is a choice made contrary to feeling. But what this is, cowardice or, conversely, a step towards liberation, can only be understood by knowing the background the question asked and checking the remaining cards drawn. In situations where feelings are cruelly suppressed by the mind, this card, of course, has a negative character. But if it shows that by the power of reason we managed to break out of the captivity of some kind of addiction, free ourselves from dubious habits, then this is a step, although painful, but necessary.
THREE OF SWORDS
Grief, Sadness
The second ten-day period of Libra is from October 3 to October 12.
Astrological equivalents: Neptune in Libra, Aquarius and the Seventh House.
The second decade of Libra expresses the idea of defining the boundaries of thought: identifying logical patterns that allow the mind to draw a clear judgment on any issue. This decade is ruled by Saturn, reflecting its qualities such as patience and tolerance, as well as the ability to adhere to established rules for the sake of overall harmony. This same decade symbolizes self-definition, the desire for internal completeness and image perfection. However, constant measuring of steps slows down movement forward, so this decade is characterized by a fear of novelty and any uncertainty. She is also characterized by excessive self-restraint and distrust of the outside world and other people as potential sources of disharmony. Therefore, for those born in this decade, it is important to be able to timely switch from the search for static harmony within themselves to the vision of harmony in the dynamic connections of the world. Thought, developing, moves, just as life constantly changes. Their correspondence to each other is harmony in a higher sense than the dead canons of the past. The Tarot card shows a heart pierced by three swords. Reflecting his sadness, rain falls from the clouds in the background. This picture seems to remind us that the world is based on contradictions, and its rational comprehension, like knowledge in general, is associated with sorrow: any law, even the law of existence, is harsh and imposes responsibility on a person. But the rain is about to stop: the sun is peeking out from behind the clouds. And this is the guarantee that sadness and sadness will dissipate like clouds after rain. A person’s thought must humble itself before the reasonable laws of the world - and then with a light heart he will be able to accept what was previously not contained in his consciousness.
STRAIGHT POSITION
IN upright position cards: disgust, sorrow, incompatibility, opposition, separation, unattainability. THE THREE OF SWORDS always symbolizes the desire for an unattainable ideal, the rejection of reality and at the same time the inability to escape this reality. Or, in other words, an attempt to solve a problem using unsuitable means. At the level of the THREE OF SWORDS, a choice of direction occurs, perhaps for the self-realization of power. In addition, the card can symbolize an attempt to achieve unearthly harmony of the triad at the level of matter, which usually ends in failure.
SWORDS always act only when necessary, but farewell and separation are a frequent necessity that causes suffering to the heart, alas - this is another meaning of this card, as well as the bitter truth that causes pain. In the THREE OF SWORDS there is also a motif of disagreement (non-perception) with reality, so the card can also symbolize opposition, unsociability, antipathy, unsociability, discrepancy (Neptunian notes of melody).
REVERSED POSITION
In an inverted position, the effect of negative aspects is enhanced, giving illusions, delusions, hallucinations, absent-mindedness and irreparable mistakes. THREE OF SWORDS is a symbol of ideals being tested for strength. Therefore, we can say that she is a little in tune with Scorpio.
Because of the design, this card is often considered a symbol of grief, mainly due to unhappy love. It has, of course, such an aspect, but this is far from exhausting its content. The main meaning of the Three of Swords is a choice made contrary to feeling. But what this is, cowardice or, conversely, a step towards liberation, can only be understood by knowing the background of the question asked and checking the rest of the cards that have been dealt. In situations where feelings are cruelly suppressed by the mind, this card, of course, has a negative character. But if it shows that by the power of reason we managed to break out of the captivity of some kind of addiction, free ourselves from dubious habits, then this is a step, although painful, but necessary.
Job
Here the Three of Swords means that we are required to take some step or actions that go against our feelings. We have to do a job we hate or have a difficult conversation that makes us sick. If our position is rather in a leadership position, then the card may mean the unpleasant need to reprimand a subordinate whom we value very much. Of course, it may mean that we ourselves will have to listen to a reprimand, perhaps unfair, or experience some other troubles that may even result in dismissal.
Consciousness
At the level of consciousness, the Three of Swords shows that we have to learn the bitter truth and lose all previous illusions. Something may be revealed to us that will force us to abandon previous, habitual ideas, overcome the inertia of thinking, or take that step that we have previously avoided - either out of fear or disgust. Where the intellect has suppressed all feelings, this card serves as a warning, but if the sharp blade of the mind can free us from painful, overly possessing feelings, this painful step can be salutary, like a timely surgical operation.
Personal relationships and love
But here it really is most often - unhappy love. Disappointment, resentment, mutual reproaches, often ending in a breakup. However, even here this card can show its positive meaning: the decision to finally end, despite all the pain, an alliance that has become a trap, a dead end or torture for us.
Inner meaning
The Three of Swords tarot is a card of rupture, separation. Alliances, previously formed, fall apart due to discord, opposing interests, and conflicts between parts. From the very beginning, the alliance was fragile and based on the self-interest of at least one of the parties. Now they are splitting up. In this downfall, protect your interests because that is what your former partner is doing. You must stay at the top; it will be a stressful and unpleasant time, and as a result of this derailment, things may go wrong if you do not look straight ahead.

Sorrow
Saturn in Libra
10°—20° Libra
Original title: Lord of Sorrow Original composition in the Golden Dawn system: three hands reach out from the clouds at the bottom of the map, each holding a sword. In general, the image is similar to the Two of Swords, but the right and left swords are separated by the blow of the third sword, the central one. The rose is cut, its petals scatter. The white rays have faded
Bina's color according to Prince's scale: dark brown.
Colors of Saturn on four scales: indigo; black; blue-black; black with blue veins
Libra colors on four scales: emerald green; blue; rich blue-green; pale green
Formula: Three (Binah) + Swords (Yetzirah) + Saturn in Libra = TRIAL.
The Three of Swords made a very strong impression on Frieda Harris: “Please, do not frighten me with the suit of Swords. I followed all the instructions exactly. I don't understand what could have gone wrong. Three is a complete nightmare and terrible torment” (from a letter from Harris to Aleister Crowley, exact date unknown).
Above I stated that all Aces, Twos and Threes are very prosperous and lucky cards, because they correspond to the first triad of sephiroth, located above the Abyss. But what good can happen in Tribulation? Let me remind you that it is very, very difficult for a person to comprehend the nature of consciousness, characteristic of beings above the Abyss. There's nothing specific there; it is an abstract environment in which there are no objects, not even their forms - nothing but pure potentiality. The “grief” of the Three of Swords has nothing to do with the grief that can be caused, for example, by the death of a loved one or separation from a beloved. This is a kind of deep state of consciousness, the description of which we, the inhabitants of the world below the Abyss, can only try to approach. The word "sorrow" is sadly far from an accurate definition of this condition, but still it is the most suitable word that can be found in our language.
Let's take a break from the astrological correspondences of the card and see what Kabbalistic factors influence the Three of Swords and successfully turn it into Tribulation:
The swords correspond to the world of Yetzirah, the world of formation... but, alas! neither in Binah nor in the other sephiroth above the Abyss do forms exist;
Swords correspond to the Ruach, the human mind... but alas! in Bina, above the Abyss, there is no reason or understanding either.
The mind, devoid of reason and form, is forced to give way to a higher order of consciousness. The Three of Swords symbolizes that great trance of sorrow through which the Buddha once achieved enlightenment. Those who get this card may have the same luck.

Description of the lasso
In our society, everyone, and especially men, are taught not to cry, not to show that they are hurt, and to put on a mask of courage. But women can fall into this trap too, and we can all feel at one time or another that the only way to survive is to hide our feelings and emotions so that we don't get hurt again. If our pain is particularly intense, we may try to hide it even from ourselves. It can make us frozen, rigid, because deep down we know that one small crack in the ice will release the pain and it will begin to circulate within us.
Straight position
The rainbow tears on this man's face hold the key to how to get out of this glaciation. Tears and only tears have the power to melt the ice. It's okay to cry and there's no need to be ashamed of your tears. Crying helps us let go of pain, allowing us to be gentle with ourselves, and will ultimately help us heal.
Meaning of the card
We are unhappy because we are too self-absorbed. What does it mean to be too self-absorbed? And what exactly happens when we become too self-absorbed? We can be either in existence or in ourselves - it is impossible to be in two places at the same time. To be in oneself means to be apart, to be separated. To be within yourself means to become an island. To be within yourself means to draw a boundary around yourself. To be in oneself means to make a distinction between “I am this” and “I am not that.” The definition, the boundary between “I” and “Not I” is personality. The personality is separated. And it freezes you - you no longer flow. If you flow, the personality cannot exist. Thus, people became almost like ice cubes. There is no warmth in them, there is no love - love is warmth, and they are afraid of love. If heat comes to them, they will begin to melt and the boundaries will disappear. In love, boundaries disappear; in joy, boundaries also disappear, because joy is not cold. (Osho)
In the Tarot, the suit of Swords reflects the most impulsive areas of human life and nature that do not obey reason and logic, and is also related to random incidents and unplanned events. The Suit of Swords talks about feelings and desires that have gone over the edge; These are actions that look impossible, inappropriate, unexpected. In fact, all the events described by this suit explode a long accumulation of emotions in the unconscious “I” - this is a summer thunderstorm, arriving after the distant muttering of black clouds. Cards of the Swords suit are fleeting and changeable, they exist in reality only here and now, they are the basis of a short-term forecast.
Ace - "Strength"
There is no clear difference between upright/inverted. Direct is stronger. Often indicates the beginning of a passion, illness, or undertaking. New action.
Direct: determination, initiative, strength, passionate love, challenge.
Inverted: destruction, illness, undermining vitality, excessive haste, forcing unnecessary events.
ACE OF SWORDS
Ace of Swords - card, standing apart. There are no people on it, as on other cards, but there is no state of mind (Three of Swords). The card signifies something that happens suddenly, unexpectedly, unreasonably. It is to her that the words “blow of fate” apply.
This is love that suddenly flared up from one glance, this is an accidental pregnancy, this is an accident, this is hatred that arose overnight and does not fade for years.
The Ace of Swords speaks of a huge accumulation of energy in a small volume of time and objects, and also that this entire collection of values will explode overnight. Other cards will hint at a subtle place (where will the circle open?)
For example:
Ace of Swords and Three of Swords - plans are broken;
Three of Swords and Ace of Swords - there is no hope;
Ace of Swords and Ten of Swords - murder;
Ten of Swords and Ace of Swords - revenge for murder.
Ace of Swords + Jester - battle with fools.
Features of interpretation in case of loss:
Above your head are plans for revenge hatched by the client, malicious intent from resentment;
At the feet - revenge will fall on the head of the client himself who started the war: everyone will run away laughing, but the fool will remain.
Ace of Swords + Hermit - it will not be possible to achieve and break through. If certain cards of the Pentacles suit are present:
Four of Pentacles - a certain amount;
Reversed Ace of Pentacles - a large sum of money lent, an expensive car for rent;
then the client will not be able to repay the debt either by scandal or war due to the complete and eternal lack of funds from the debtor.
Five of Swords + Ace of Cups (expectation of change) + Ace of Swords - incentive instructions to the partner about the need to break off his previous relationship before new ones develop: “I don’t want hasty meetings, I don’t want to be angry and jealous, but therefore, I’m waiting for you after the battles of parting, then we’ll just start.”
In an inverted position, the Ace of Swords means:
1. The end of the war - all the fighters are killed, and the problem is resolved.
2. Postoperative period.
3. Refusal to fight, consent to infringement of one’s interests.
Five of Swords (separation) + Ace of Swords p/w + Marriage —
look in the middle! The marriage union was not broken; the separation took place on the other half of the planet of life. And if the wife kept her husband, then who lost the partner? Of course, mistress. The extramarital union has been destroyed, but the marriage union, grieving and groaning, stands like a steadfast tin soldier, gradually drowning in tears of reproach.
The Ace of Swords plays with wonderful, quite poetic facets when paired with the Major Arcana card. Be sure to take into account the position of the Ace relative to the other card, as well as its position - whether it is upright or inverted: Ace of Swords + Hanged Man - a disaster, where the victim is the client, and revenge coming from the object of the fortune-telling process. If the layout contains Death or Hermit cards, the client faces death. Without them, you are on the verge of death, but it will take a long time to lick your wounds;
Hanged Man + Ace of Swords - revenge, delivering (by the client) a secondary blow in the form of an act of retaliation;
Ace of Swords p/v + Hanged Man - repulse as a result of external aggression, using it to eliminate unnecessary connections; Hanged Man + Ace of Swords p/v - unexpected blow, with subsequent losses; often appears as a warning about an attack using a bladed weapon. In the presence of the Four of Swords and Nine of Swords cards, it will be the basis for prognosis of surgery due to the unexpected manifestation of an acute disease;
Ace of Swords p/w + Hanged Man p/w - the client will undeservedly, mistakenly suffer morally, possibly financially, or physically from revenge; Moreover, the aggressor will be deliberately directed by someone’s firm hand. In this story, there is necessarily the misleading of the attacker by third, interested parties; deliberate deception in the external conditions of the game;
Hanged Man + Ace of Swords p/v - internal fear makes you expect trouble, and your imagination will help you find the enemy. Apparent hatred, a mistake in ideas about the real balance of power can lead to the expected troubles, but you only have yourself to blame;
Hanged Man + Ace of Swords - but from here you didn’t expect trouble (if you knew where to fall, you would have laid out straws).
Two of Swords - "Peace, Calm", Libra, September 23 - October 2
The Two of Swords symbolizes focus on the inner world. A person is firmly convinced of something. He is in perfect balance. Crossed swords - contradictory thoughts that set consciousness in motion. Carefully! If you lose inner peace, you will lose clarity of vision. Be guided by reason.
Direct- firmness, ability to move forward. Clashes are inevitable. The meaning of the card is to look for a compromise (cooperation, agreement, a hint of harmony).
Inverted- Decay of power, falsehood, dishonor, betrayal, “fake” friends, lies
Venus is realized in the Two of Swords. The Two of Swords is the Moon in Libra - peacefulness. Understanding other people's problems. Peacemaker, easy to communicate, avoid indecision. Honesty with yourself.
TWO OF SWORDS MORE
Two of Swords - “I don’t see”, also “I don’t want”.
Acceptable range: from the whiny “I don’t want to see you” to the calmly interrogative “Nothing is happening.” But I don’t recommend considering this card negative - it is more emotional than real.
Two of Swords + Ten of Swords - I will not see a mortal blow, but great fear will be experienced. In the presence of Ace of Posokhov - a stop is one step away from the financial abyss.
Two of Swords p/v - loss, disappearance of a previously dear person, a necessary thing or an important circumstance. Often as a result of intrigue, theft or deception. Separately and always - intrigue and gossip around the client.
Moderation + Two of Swords p/v + Eight of Swords (temporary circumstances) - painful experiences about unexpected separation from a dear person (loss of an important place, circumstances, things), doubts about the possibility of seeing a future together. But everything will work out, what was lost can be completely restored.
Three of Swords - "Grief, Sorrow", Libra, October 3 - October 12
Identification of logical patterns. Clear judgment using logical reason. Three shows that a person follows the rules in the name of harmony, but, however, the constant comparison of steps slows down the process. There is a fear of novelty, self-restraint, fear of the world, and distrust of people.
The symbol is a heart pierced by three swords. It rains from the clouds; any knowledge is associated with suffering. This places responsibility on the person. Man is powerless, but the rain will pass soon!
Direct- grief, incompatibility, opposition, separation, incomprehensibility. Three always indicates a desire for incomprehensible ideals, a desire to escape reality. More often it indicates an attempt to solve a problem using unworthy methods. At the Three level, there is a choice of direction for self-realization of strength. May mean material failure. Can mean farewell and separation (swords - pain). On the emotional plane, it symbolizes disagreement with reality, the opposite of action, antipathy and unsociability.
Inverted- The importance of negative aspects, leading to irreparable errors, increases.
The Three of Swords is a symbol of ideals being tested for strength. Diplomacy, fairness, honesty. The ability to learn lessons from relationships. Cooperation. Possible intolerance.
THREE OF SWORDS
Three of Swords - “everything is lost” - in sensations from the exclamation mark to the deadening emptiness of the final result.
Ten of Staves (useless) + Three of Swords + Nine of Staves - don’t do it, otherwise you’ll regret it.
Knight of Swords (fear) + Three of Swords + Eight of Penta-glue - as a result of the stress suffered during the robbery, the client will have a long recovery period.
The Three of Swords p/w denotes the disappearance of a previously dear person from life.
Marriage + Three of Swords p/w + Five of Swords p/w - the marriage was dissolved due to the death of one of the spouses.
Four of Swords - "Truce", Libra, October 13 - October 23
This decade of Libra fully represents the idea of Libra partnership - harmony of relationships as an analogue of the highest justice, goodness, morality, calm optimism, sense of humor, attention to people. The decade is ruled by Jupiter, which bestows the above qualities. People of this decade need to listen more often to their inner voice and their own conscience. At the same time, they must be clearly aware of their goals so as not to get bogged down in idealism. Four also indicates a temporary respite before a new throw.
The symbol is a figure lying on its back. Three swords on the wall, and one nearby - the mind is passively waiting, but it is not always ready to be fully armed.
Direct- rest, recuperation, refusal to fight, loneliness, exile, period of calm. Everything is temporary. Four is the small favor of Swords. The sleeper on the map has completed his task and is resting for now.
Inverted- untimely action. We need to stop and think, and not rush into battle. This means that it is wrong to act, wrong place, wrong time and hence the result. The Reversed Four says that the time is not right for action. Action at the Four level is static and goes deep. For women, it indicates motherhood.
In general, the Four of Swords eliminates fuss. Jupiter in Libra - attractiveness, balanced attitude. Cleansing. Love for beauty.
FOUR OF SWORDS
Four of Swords - I can’t: from “I can’t leave from...” to “I can’t come to...”, including physical and mental illness, as well as death.
Four of Swords + Ace of Swords - the wounds have healed a little, and again we go into battle!
Four of Swords + Ace of Swords p/v - there will be no second round, the battle is lost, the sword is buried in the ground, and war is in the air. After a long silence, it is useless to raise a painful issue again - it will not be possible to solve the problem constructively.
The card often represents isolation - be it a prison, a hospital, or simply an interior space.
The Four of Swords promises by its appearance profit, as well as receiving news that will cover spiritual wounds with balm.
Two of Cups ( love relationship) + Mage + Four of Swords p/v - Zheglov was right when he said (umm, I don’t remember exactly): “He has nowhere else to go - here he has love with interest!”
Meditating on this trinity, one would think that the client’s lover had temporarily put aside meetings in favor of making a profit, while not for a moment giving up pleasant dreams about her, his girlfriend. But no! He, of course, is forced, like any man, to think first of all about earning money, but in the case of the Four of Swords that closes the logical chain (there are no legs to move away from doubles play for the sake of profit in the world), the maximum benefit from his own efforts is everything he expects not in an individual game, but in a pair game - together with the client. So, the client and her dear friend (remember: the Magician is the “main man”) are united by the time spent together in games and work.
Five of Swords - "Defeat", Aquarius, January 20-31
The period when the secret becomes clear. People show clarity in all matters. People of this decade have clarity of mind and ingenuity. This decan of Aquarius is ruled by Venus. It provides talents and opportunities in the arts. The Five of Swords symbolizes an attempt to escape from narrow boundaries. Four of Swords - desire for freedom, leaving the parental home. Sometimes this leads to "broken trough".
The symbol is three figures: the first - the winner - carries three swords, the second, in the background, cries (defeated), but the third leaves undefeated (she has the right to go into battle or not). Metaphysics of the Five is the destruction of everything that interferes with movement. This is cleansing, cutting off everything unnecessary. Giving up a lot (asceticism) to climb to the top.
Direct- conquest, challenge, destruction of the environment. Opponents who can rebel: honor - dishonor, victory - defeat, ups - downs, risk - exhaustion, voluntary or forced isolation. Change of direction of life's path, logic of worldview. The Five of Swords is a cruel card.
Inverted written as a fraction.
Venus in Aquarius - emotional coldness, relationships of convenience. Deep desire for independence. Hatred of restrictions. Mind over heart.
Six of Swords - "Science, Disclosure", Aquarius, February 1-9
Symbolizes consistent and detailed aspirations, science, unexpected intuitive insights into the realm of the unknown. The transition from thought to action. The spirit grows stronger, a person embraces new horizons. This decade is characterized by far-reaching plans and complete indifference to the current moment and the needs of others; the idea becomes higher than the reality of the world. The trouble is that in the name of an idea, everything and everyone is trampled (as in the Revolution). Lesson: we must be more careful about the present, without which there will be no future.
Symbol: a man with a pole ferrying a boat from shore to shore. With him in the boat is a family (woman, child) and six standing swords. Sometimes it is interpreted as a transition of consciousness to a new level (a child is a symbol of potential).
Direct- a precisely calculated action. However, at the Six level the step has not yet been taken, but can be done. On the spiritual level, this is the rebirth of a person, rebirth. It also means traveling or traveling. It can mean overcoming difficulties, victory by mastering a skill thoroughly. Success after much trouble and hectic action.
Inverted- selfishness, tendency to use others (to sit on others' necks), stagnation. The problems that arise are not solved, but are put on the back burner.
SIX OF SWORDS
Six of Swords - the ice has broken: from the rollicking “to hell with everything” to the apologetic “this is the only possible option.”
This is the movement “to”, “on”, “in”, “with”. The option “action”, “road” is also suitable.
So, a man has decided on his further actions if, with a generally decisive view of the situation (presence large quantity Major Arcana cards):
Six of Swords (heading) + Ten of Cups (family happiness) - the client is ready to ask his girlfriend not to call again and not ask for a meeting: “I have a family, I have to take care of the child, I’m returning to the family!” - that’s what he’ll say.
Here the six will point out to us some features of the client’s actions: he never left the family, the wife, if she suspects something about the adventures of the head of the family, is only based on the deterioration of his character, but not on the signs of the presence of a rival.
In an inverted position: “from” and “without”.
Magician + Six of Swords p/v + Four of Staves - the client will have to think very carefully before developing an action plan to tame this affectionate, intelligent and well-groomed man. After all, he has no living space.
Seven of Swords - "Futility, Melancholy", Aquarius, February 9-18
The third decade is ruled by the Moon and Neptune, the planets of mysticism. The flight of thought up to utopia is symbolized. a person breaks away from reality and lives by emotions. Result: retreat into daydreaming, inability to soberly assess the events of practical life. It is no coincidence that “Futility” is not just a thought or a dream that does not solve problems.
The symbol is a man looking absentmindedly at two swords while carrying five swords. He is distracted and confused. Tent city - instability. Way out of the situation: determine guidelines, remember previous goals - this will give support and confidence in the future. The bottom line is that when going towards a goal, don’t spread yourself too thin and don’t hesitate.
Seven is the most perfect number. There is a desire for perfection, so actions at level seven are distinguished by sophistication, subtlety, and sometimes excessiveness. Neptune gives the Seven illusions; it pushes the wishful thinking into reality, while the path to the goal is more difficult and longer. At least the job is only half done. It is success if you are content with your thoughts.
In terms of actions, the Seven symbolizes the development of skills and abilities. The card can mean overcoming difficulties after much trouble. Overall this is a good card.
Direct- indicates the action of the subject of the card. These are new plans, desire, perseverance, charm, hope, faith, partial success.
Inverted- events from the outside world that intervenes: advice, instructions, comments, correction, i.e. adjustment. Emotionally - lack of energy, weakness, helplessness. Unfinished business. Having reached the first goal, instead of moving forward, he throws everything away. Another meaning is the ability to act secretly. A way to avoid danger, not conflict. Open with the enemy, act with cunning. May indicate something hidden in a person.
SEVEN OF SWORDS
The Seven of Swords is cunning: we have come to a time of intrigue and deception, covered with the quietest veil of tenderness and inaction. In reality, the card manifests its qualities only under external influence (suspicious “where are you going?”; sarcastic “well, where is the result?”).
Ten of Cups (family well-being) + Seven of Swords + King of Swords - the prodigal father is a test of the family:
it will not be possible to hide the truth, the earth is full of rumors, family joys will turn to dust. A stab in the back is always more dangerous because of the consequences.
In an inverted position - going on vacation in the “pey-zan” style: to the village, to nature, to hunt.
Seven of Swords p/v + Hanged Man + Hierophant - a vacation trip with a partner, shrouded in a veil of secrecy.
With its appearance, it invites a person to break away from the never-ending series of tasks and take a breath. The time spent on rest will allow you to restore strength for the subsequent active leap into a happy place. You don’t have to rest, but your troubles will be empty. It was as if nothing had been done. Why bother so much?
Eight of Swords - “Obstacles, Intervention”, Gemini, May 21-31
A sign symbolizing a change of thoughts. Ruled by Jupiter, Mars, Sun. The intellect of this sign is full of energy to search for new ideas.
Symbol: a figure with tied hands and blindfolded. The swords form a fence, you need to walk between them. Water on the path is the power of the subconscious and the castle hints at past achievements. A person is consumed by contradictions, clarity of mind has disappeared. This is an exit into an unknown voyage. A person goes blindly towards the unknown, but he correctly senses the situation and this will help to overcome the situation.
The Eight of Swords is one of the most critical cards in the reading. These are inevitable obstacles along the way. At the Eight level there is the temptation of possibilities. If you give in, you won’t move further than the Eight. An Eight can mean a lawsuit within the framework of confusing laws or circumstances where a person is lost, like a grain of sand.
Direct- judgments, sometimes biased, criticism, meticulous control, censure, labels, distortion of words, unenlightened opinion.
Inverted- betrayal from the past, difficult, hard work, depression, mental fatigue, anxiety, accident, stagnation. In any position, the Eight of Swords indicates fatal circumstances (mental illness, captivity). All cases when one decides for another. Or wealth that blinds.
EIGHT OF SWORDS
Eight of Swords - “I can’t, I don’t know,” and also: “what to do.”
The range of hopelessness: from panicky “where to run” to exhausting “nothing and no way.”
An unpredictable map of fear and grave doubts, it forces one to act inconsistently, without direction, and often indicates a variety of mental abnormalities. Its appearance in a reading usually indicates the client’s reluctance, or impossibility, to deal with someone from his environment. Often it indicates a decision to finally part with a previously dear person, and with the absence of any possibility of meetings or even conversations.
Usually indicates uncertainty and doubts that are born from ignorance, including oneself and other participants in the events: Eight of Staves (professional troubles) + Eight of Swords + Ace of Cups (lucky proposal) - do not recommend the fortuneteller to take for a non-core or completely unfamiliar area of work. Knowledge for the successful implementation of the project is not enough, the business will fail.
Three of Staffs p/v (departure) + Eight of Swords - time of timelessness. Change is on your doorstep, but the first step has not yet been taken.
What awaits behind the opening door? Will you meet dear people in the distance now, will they remember and wait for you, or maybe everything will vanish like smoke, maybe you made it all up, and in general - what if you’ve been deceived for a long time?
The inverted position of the card will say the opposite: someone does not want (or is afraid) to no longer live, not to be friends, not to see (in the sense of the layout) the client himself. Can also be read as “freedom”, “liberation”.
Eight of Swords p/w + Three of Staves + Two Penta-glue p/w - an unexpected return of a long-standing loss. It’s easier to read the C through the verbs: stand + approach + return. Thus, we get the following changes in the client’s life: while she is going about her business, having long said goodbye to a thing that was lost somewhere, or money - with close Pentacles, or a person - with a sword figure, circumstances will approach her (the arrival of an acquaintance , a telephone call, a response from the police regarding a missing person’s complaint), which will allow you to take back the disappeared.
In the scenario married woman indicates a recent betrayal of her husband, the first in her married life (of course, only as an act of manifestation of the individual freedom of a woman, as an individual in the difficult bonds of marriage).
Nine of Swords -"Cruelty", Gemini, June 1 - 10
Ruled by Mars. Expresses the work of one’s own mind when understanding the world. The decade develops mental acuity and poses questions head-on. Mars suggests judging things from a personal perspective and speaking boldly about everything, but on the other hand, not falling into “cruelty.” This is the mistake. The mind is cruel, it does not see the right path at this moment. Listen to your heart! Nobody needs this bloody war.
Symbol: a woman on the bed, covering her face with her hands, waking up and suddenly realizing what had happened. Her insight is sad. But the nine swords above the head point forward to the future. On the bedspread are symbols of the planets and the Zodiac that govern the universe.
Advice: take the world into pieces, comprehend the mistakes of the past and present and find out the future. The Nine of Swords symbolizes the results that are about to manifest, Jupiter gives the card religiosity. Neptune can drive her to fanaticism, to frenzied forms.
IN love affairs Nine shows concern for a loved one (hysterical, annoying love). Hysteria, in general, is associated with the Nine of Swords. Neptune brings relationships of mistrust, suspicion, doubt almost to the point of mania. Neptune also imposes on Nine such “joys” as poverty.
Direct- temple, monastery, cult, attitude towards it, as well as virginity, purity, holiness, purity.
Inverted- fear of disease, violence, doubt, dubious offers. The precariousness of the card is that a person balances between holiness and disgusting blasphemy. Also shows sharp and sudden social ups and downs (an hourly idol). Change of daily environment.
NINE OF SWORDS.
Nine of Swords - depression: from the conclusion “life was lived in vain...” to the postscript “you can’t live like this anymore.” Inner emptiness, isolation in a hostile world: its joy is your pain.
Nine of Swords + Hanged Man - fear of being left with nothing, of giving everything away, of losing without receiving anything in return. The Hanged Man indicates the fear of falling victim to deception or circumstances where the fear relates more to the loss of friends and fortune than to relatives and health. We can talk about a mistake made earlier by the client, where some of the negative results have already been revealed (a long quarrel with mother, husband, etc.), while the final portion of troubles is expected as a Forecast. Whether there will be further deterioration - we will clarify the meaning of the nearest cards.
Knight of Swords + Nine of Swords - a complaint to a client from a third party about the rash, hooligan actions of a young man.
Nine of Swords + Knight of Swords - the victims present claims to the direct culprit of the unpleasant events.
King of Cups + Nine of Swords + Page of Posokhov - a well-disposed middle-aged man (at least older than the woman participating in the alignment) will take upon himself the solution of the main problems that hinder the young woman in her endeavors.
Often we are talking about the help of an uncle, an adult friend in arranging the living space of the client (if she is young) or the girl under her care (if the client is not at the age of puberty).
Here the man makes eye contact with the sword situation, pushing the other participant out of it.
Priestess + Nine of Swords - the client will experience mental distress.
Priestess + Nine of Swords p/v - resentment towards the client, disappointment in her: “I’m tired of your scandals, I don’t want to see you, leave me alone.” In an inverted position - disappearance, cessation; the inevitability of overcoming the mistakes of the past, where there is no other answer except REFUSAL.
Six of Cups p/v (change in life circumstances) + Four of Pentacles (limited funds) + Nine of Staves p/v - statement of the current situation in the client’s life, where she can only regret, and those around her can sympathize with such a serious deterioration in her financial situation, in which she is forced to save every ruble. What exactly the storyline is developing must be clarified using the accompanying active cards or the cards of the Major Arcana. So, when the Ace of Staffs lands, we are talking about personal bankruptcy.
Ten of Swords - "Crash, Destruction", Gemini, June 11 - 21
The decade symbolizes transformative work in a specific situation. The third decade has practical acumen, unbridled curiosity about everyday and world events, and a willingness to fuss about any reason.
Symbol: a man pierced by ten swords. There is white light all around, dispelling the darkness.
Overcoming external vanity and understanding deeper values makes it possible to find your way and move from thought to action. The ten of swords symbolizes a certain obstacle that must be overcome at all costs. In order not to fall into the abyss, you need to find a way to cross it at any cost. At the Ten level, the physical result of previous actions is visible. What it will be like depends on your actions and deeds.
When this card appears, it means a person is confused, not knowing where to go, there is no need to be afraid of it. It manifests itself strongly in people with a “big swing”. As weak manifestations of the card - temporary financial difficulties, depression.
Direct- grief, suffering, complaints, consolation, affection, love, home, peaceful lifestyle. This card is a problem: you can start an obstacle, or you can start waiting and calm down. If you take a risk and overcome it, you will move to a new level
TEN OF SWORDS
Ten of Swords - “not belonging to the world.”
The result of a long, persistent struggle of the ego with the realities of the world and, as a result, the crushingly rapid destruction of what is being created. This is a betrayal of loved ones and friends who were deceived by you earlier; this is a short-lived lung cancer after many years of smoking; this is death “from” or “because of”, towards which we have persistently walked for years.
Ten of Swords + Six of Staves (action) + Two of Staves (past) - causing a heavy loss by the actions of a person from the recent past.
A man, returning from a long-term business trip, learned that his car and the valuables stored in it had been stolen from a friend’s garage. The most unpleasant thing turned out to be later - the crime was committed by a friend himself. He could not resist the temptation to solve his financial difficulties in one fell swoop. Well, he didn’t cope, but it turned out that he betrayed him.
Ace of Pentacles + Queen of Cups + Ten of Swords - the lady faces deep disappointment in her beloved, who imprudently refused material assistance. Of course, how can such reverent feelings as tenderness and romance be subjected to the rusty scratch of pettiness and economy!
The inverted Ten of Swords signifies by its appearance the end of a period of loss and loss. The past cannot be returned, traitors cannot be forgiven, those who have left cannot be returned, but life goes on! Stop lying around, get up and go. It's already dawn.
Two Kubkrv (close people) + Ten of Swords p/v - renewal of love relationships against the background of mutual attraction and not without the presence of benefits.
Page of Swords
Man has noble aspirations, but it would be a mistake to expect great achievements from him. He strives for perfection, but has not yet achieved it. This is the ideal friend, always ready to help. He is a pleasant conversationalist and assistant.
Direct- A pioneer (a young man, regardless of gender), who discovers the world around him. Naive, not sophisticated. He often studies somewhere. Most often occupies a dependent position. Sometimes he’s just an infantile person. It gives people parental feelings. They are often patronized.
Inverted- Indicates lazy people without a goal in life. This is the "eternal student". It has not yet taken place, but there is time to come to your senses. Sometimes it places a heavy burden on the shoulders of the patron. Sometimes psychologically torments the benefactor.
If action:
Direct- Summarizing. The results have already appeared, be able to see them.
Inverted- Where did what you were going to go to? Reconsider your actions.
Knight of Swords
Impulsive. A person who rushes forward furiously without thinking, often for no particular reason, but with courage and a desire for accomplishment. This often makes life difficult for those around him. He is always in a hurry, impatient. Grabs at everything, without material resources and without caring about the feelings of others.
If this is your partner, there is no need to babysit him.
If it points at you, you need to cope with your energy. You are harming yourself.
Direct- An energetic and dexterous person, but he does not reach the level of a leader. A loner hero. The scope of activity is specific material matters. He is quick-witted, but without the breadth of vision of the King of Swords.
Inverted- He doesn’t know which side he’s on (tossing around). A kind of noble hooligan-robber. He dreams of reforming himself and usually butters up the King of Swords or the Queen of Cups. He may also be a weak person, paired with the Queen of Swords, who suppresses him even more.
If action:
Direct- Events indicated by other cards in the presence of a Knight are half completed. You can already judge what the results will be.
Inverted- A sign that you are at the beginning stage. It is too early to judge the results.
Queen of Swords
A wonderful card - a balance between the nature of the Cup and the effectiveness of the sword. The card describes the ability to fully penetrate an idea and then examine it from all sides with clear eyes. Clarity of desires, inner peace and freedom.
The Queen is a very independent woman who knows what she wants and acts accordingly. You can discuss everything with her and ask for help. This is a business woman, sensible. It is not as bright as the King of Swords, but is no less effective.
Direct - The queen's actions are driven by emotions (love, hate). Another aspect is that she does not know compromises. Often this is a person “with a baton” who does not allow you to deviate from the path.
Inverted- also a purposeful woman, but acts against you. Sometimes the card represents love that has turned into hatred.
Inverted position - deprivation of something. You are haunted by a lack of something.
If action:
Direct- the first step has been taken in the undertaking. Now it is important not to retreat. Advice: just go ahead! There is no turning back.
Inverted- action started without a clear idea of the goal, a waste of energy. Unjustified risk.
King of Swords
A person who expresses his position with the help of a sword to those around him appears clear and direct, purposeful. He is sharp, cuts off everything that seems unnecessary to him. He is more respected than loved. If a girlfriend shares his professional interests, he will make her his business partner. But he will not hesitate to part with his beloved if the relationship interferes with his career or interests.
If your friend is the King of Swords, be careful!
Direct- fierce, energetic, strong man. He tends to rely only on himself, although he knows the limits of his capabilities. These are leaders, legends and myths are made about them, people gossip about them, and he gives reasons. His deeds are visible and understandable to people. He can act as a peacemaker. However, here too he will act from a position of strength.
In an upright position, he is an energetic person, then upside down- a person is overly cautious and fearful. But in any case, he is a very passionate person.
If the card meant an action, then:
Direct- laying the foundation for future actions, the scope of work is determined. Everything is very specific.
The time for hesitation is over, the time has come to act.
Inverted- it's not time to act. There is no specific task.
Description of the lasso:
In our society, everyone, and especially men, are taught not to cry, not to show that they are hurt, and to put on a mask of courage. But women can fall into this trap too, and we can all feel at one time or another that the only way to survive is to hide our feelings and emotions so that we don't get hurt again. If our pain is particularly intense, we may try to hide it even from ourselves. It can make us frozen, rigid, because deep down we know that one small crack in the ice will release the pain and it will begin to circulate within us.
Direct position of the Three of Clouds card - Isolation:
The rainbow tears on this man's face hold the key to how to get out of this glaciation. Tears and only tears have the power to melt the ice. It's okay to cry and there's no need to be ashamed of your tears. Crying helps us let go of pain, allowing us to be gentle with ourselves, and will ultimately help us heal.
Meaning of the card:
The original meanings of the cards that come with the deck.
ASTROLOGICAL MEANING:
Mars/Moon as a symbol of offended feelings. In aspect with Mercury - a decision made contrary to feelings.
Straight position:
The Three of Swords symbolizes the desire for an unattainable ideal, the rejection of reality and the inability to escape from it. Hence - grief, disgust, disappointment, separation, unattainability.
Reverse position:
An inverted card means: the motive of disagreement with reality intensifies, misconceptions, mistakes, and illusions arise.
Three of Swords
Card Name: Lord of Sorrows
Correspondences – air of air; letter Wow; sephira – Reason
Explanation ( general meaning): Tragic information (not the event itself), grief, tears, severe reaction to what is happening.
Event: suffering for a loved one; troubles.
1. Seized goods, external restrictions of various kinds: an increase in rent, an increase in taxes, a warning about the closure of an enterprise. A situation that you can try to beat.
2. Heart diseases (from 13 or 16 – heart attack; from 21 – heart surgery). Problems in the chest area (thoracic spine). Psychosomatic conditions: the worse the mood, the worse the state of health. You need to get rid of worries so that they do not affect your health (talk it out, calm down).
3. Love triangle and/or broken heart. If there are other people in the scenario, it may mean that the person is torn between partners. May mean unrequited love.
4. Courageously enduring adversity, taught by bitter experience.
5. Advice: cry, experience the pain.
Caution: do not create hopeless situations.
6. The answer is no. A period of bad news, discontent, difficult experiences.
Additionally: This card is a sore spot that is constantly stepped on, and a person is unable to leave the area of irritation. If you have to endure it for a long time, even the smallest irritations become a big problem.
There is an opinion that these are THREE problems that need to be solved simultaneously, and when the Three of Swords falls on it, three additional cards need to be drawn.
Inverted
Explanation (general): Dangerous error
Event: No-win situation
1. Inability to restore business, confiscation, serious loss of money.
2. Not a completely successful operation.
3. A bad choice that could ruin the next few years. There may be dissatisfaction with your choice in love.
4. A person in a stream of troubles.
5. Advice: Prepare for challenges.
Warning: serious trouble.
6. Insurmountable conflicts, events with which it is practically useless to fight.
General value:
Job:
Here the Three of Swords means that we are required to take some step or actions that go against our feelings. We have to do a job we hate or have a difficult conversation that makes us sick. If our position is rather in a leadership position, then the card may mean the unpleasant need to reprimand a subordinate whom we value very much. Of course, it may mean that we ourselves will have to listen to a reprimand, perhaps unfair, or experience some other troubles that may even result in dismissal.
Consciousness:
At the level of consciousness, the Three of Swords shows that we have to learn the bitter truth and lose all previous illusions. Something may be revealed to us that will force us to abandon previous, habitual ideas, overcome the inertia of thinking, or take that step that we have previously avoided - either out of fear or disgust. Where the intellect has suppressed all feelings, this card serves as a warning, but if the sharp blade of the mind can free us from painful, overly possessing feelings, this painful step can be salutary, like a timely surgical operation.
Personal relationships:
But here it really is most often - unhappy love. Disappointment, resentment, mutual reproaches, often ending in a breakup. However, here too this card can show its positive meaning: the decision to finally end, despite all the pain, with an alliance that has become a trap, a dead end or torture for us.
