"Witch Runes" Wiccan (witch) runes Witch runes
Not long ago I bought myself a set Witch runes.
This is a set of 13 runes,
specially designed for witches. The basis was ancient pictographic signs depicting gods, goddesses and symbols that were well known modern witches.
I took these runes, orienting their use exclusively for myself.
Each of the 13 runes has its own meaning. Posted online excellent translation, made by Riola. And it's all.
There are no other possible meanings.
However, the publishing house that published the runes accompanied them with a book, which first contains text about Wicca as a whole and then there are articles about each of the runes.
Frankly, the values were disappointing.
A few phrases from Riola’s translation are present, but then...
The meaning of some runes slides down to similar Germanic-Scandinavian ones, others - to the small oracle of Lenormand.
And this despite the fact that Witch runes are unique...
Therefore, I decided to work through them myself.
Rune Crossroads
I started getting acquainted with them with the Crossroads rune.
In the book, the Crossroads is presented with a somewhat negative emphasis, and the proposed meanings are reminiscent of the meanings of the 22nd card “Fork” of the Lenormand system.
But the Witch Runes are not the Lenormand oracle.
For any Wiccan, hearing the word “crossroads” always brings up one beautiful image – Hecate.
Great Goddess, patroness of women, triune goddess, wise mentor and powerful avenger.
This Goddess is most beloved in modern Wicca.
It is she who is revered as the patroness of crossroads, the Goddess of Three Roads...
So what does the rune hide that sends our thoughts to the Great Goddess?
I took a meditative journey into the rune.
The goddess appeared in the form of an Old Woman, although her face was very young.
While traveling, I stood in the center of the crossroads of two roads. I felt no energy, no movement. Like emptiness.
People walked past me in different directions, not noticing me. Streams of people, hurriedly... quickly...
I soon notice that sometimes the same people pass in different directions: having gone in one direction, they return and go in another...
They are rushing about, as if trying to do everything at once.
And they completely miss the time measured out to them...
And now they are souls. But everyone is still rushing about, not knowing where to go.
And the Great Goddess stands on the edge. In her hand is a torch. But no one sees her...
And, suddenly, a young woman approaches the place where the Goddess stands. She kneels down, places some kind of offering and says something. This is a prayer or appeal...
But the torch in the hand of the Goddess flashes with a new light and at the end of one of the roads, in the distance, the same light flashes.
The girl thanks and goes in that direction.
She asked for advice and received it.
Even when I just stood in the center of the intersection, I felt dizzy: I felt movement in all directions at once.
The four directions are the whole world!
The whole world is integrity, this is the Crossroads rune.
When people hurriedly walked in all directions, they did not feel this integrity, they did not even have an idea about it.
Therefore, they personified chaos, and time quickly flew through their lives.
And in the center time stood still. It seemed to freeze inside me...
After the meditation, I remembered an excerpt from J. Deaver’s book “Thunderstorm from the Underworld”:
“Time... Can you mortals think of anything else? Everyone is talking about this time! Entire cities are rushing around like hell, screaming that they are late... But before, you people knew how to treat him properly.”
Witch runes are a modern esoteric tool used by Wiccans. Witch runes represent an oracle and are used in mantles and spiritual practices.
With Scandinavian, Northumbrian or Slavic symbols Witch runes are not connected in any way. To work with them, you do not need to connect to any egregor, undergo initiation or make bloody sacrifices.
How to tell fortunes using witch runes
- The first assistant in mantika on runes is meditation, which also applies to other writing systems. To join the layer of knowledge that pictograms carry, you will have to spend some time understanding the symbol.
- Practice as often as possible, keep a diary of fortune telling. Write down the first associations that arise in your head when looking at each rune. Wiccans keep their Books of Shadows, follow their example and organize the information.
- Get into a working state, formulate a question and concentrate. Some people like to pull out the runes by hand one die at a time. They also use another way to find out information from the runes: throw all the runes and interpret only those that fell with the pattern up, starting from the farthest one.
The meaning of the runes
Thirteen magical signs are applied to wooden or stone blanks, placed in a bag and used according to the same algorithm that works with other runic systems.
Wiccans act according to the principle “Do no harm to any living thing,” this alone says a lot about the adherents of the Old Religion, which cannot be called a religion in the strict sense. Therefore, witch runes, like the Wiccans themselves, are responsive and sensitive.
Wicca as a branch of neo-paganism is considered a young trend, but pictograms are not considered new. Each of them contains a huge inner meaning.
"Woman"
The rune represents the archetype of a woman and relates to home, “kitchen” magic, as well as to healing. Secret religious institutions associated this pictogram with magic and mystery, and considered it a prototype of a magic wand.
Under this rune there are situations that will be resolved smoothly and leisurely. Balance, analysis and a reasonable approach come to the fore. In esoteric practices, the rune is used for rituals to strengthen relationships in the home and for protective rites.
"Man"
The archetype of a man, the Germanic sign of victory, which looks like a saber raised up. In the mantik, the witch rune means that the time has come for the fortuneteller to show firmness, defend his interests and be on his guard. Events under this symbol happen rapidly and quickly replace each other.
The rune represents an energetic person, as well as the destruction of obstacles and victory.
"Harvest"
The witch rune promises rewards and positive events in all areas of life. It is depicted as a grain, which relates its meaning to material well-being and spiritual growth. Under the influence of the symbol, a person will overcome previously inaccessible peaks and turn disadvantages into advantages.
"Crossroads"
Since ancient times, the inner meaning of this phenomenon belonged to the realm of the mystical and unknown. It is not for nothing that so many conditionally dark rituals are carried out at crossroads and crossroads of several roads. In some beliefs, crossroads were considered creepy places.
In mantika, the appearance of a rune does not mean anything sharply negative; it is a temporary obstacle, a pause, disunity of the team and inability to coordinate actions. The witch sign advises to be careful and take a closer look at your surroundings. Higher powers give a person a break and the opportunity to think about where he is going.
"Star"
The witch sign with a star states that the situation is favorable for the fortuneteller. The time has come to move forward and realize the most daring desires; now a person is walking the right path. This rune brings benefits from the Universe - jewelry, finance, fame and serious relationships. The blessing of the gods is not limited to the material side; spiritual gifts provide insights, insights, and a new level of development. Human energy comes to harmony.
"Waves"
Wave - ancient symbol, which belongs to the element of water and symbolizes continuous movement. Water is about sacrifice, guilt, witchcraft, fine arts and charm. Under the “wave” passes everything soft, changing shape, illusory and deceptively impermanent, something that cannot be held in your hands.
Event-wise, the rune manifests itself as self-restraint, forced seclusion, and a feeling of abandonment. The situation under this witch sign remains in limbo and cannot be resolved. Pay attention to the circumstances that affect your problem.
"Sickle"
Runa says that asked question is irrelevant, the time for a solution has already expired. The world around us has changed so much that a fortuneteller cannot get an answer to an exciting problem. The witch sign denotes a sharp change in events, variability of thoughts and plans, as well as the ability to mimic and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
"Eye"
The “Eye” warns of future events that will change consciousness. After this, your worldview and outlook on life will change. The rune also has a strong mystical influence, awakens magic in a person, sharpens the sixth sense and enhances magnetism. The witch's symbol advises to discard vanity and begin to closely observe current events, to find the hidden meaning in current events. Luck is on the side of the fortuneteller.
"Sun"
The gypsies called this rune Cham and believed that it gave energy and illuminated objects with the power of the sun. This is a positive witch sign that predicts the beginning of a new path or brave step. The pictogram represents development, knowledge, creativity and fertility. The sign energizes a person and is used in healing.
"Moon"
The second name of this rune is Shion, “hand of protection.” According to the “Moon”, dreams, fruits of imagination, creativity and self-defense come to a person. The symbol stimulates the work of intuition, but it also increases illusions. Thus, on event plan the rune does not provide clarity, on the contrary. “Moon” predicts that a person will get bogged down in memories and will be unable to move for some time, entangled in self-criticism and unclear speculation about what is happening.
"Flight"
The witch's sign promises news - it is on its way. Sleepless nights also pass along this rune, during which a person is overwhelmed by endless thoughts.
"Ring"
The ancients considered the ring to be a symbol of cyclicity, and also a witchcraft instrument with which a magician or witch could take a person or creature into slavery. Later, this interpretation was forgotten, replaced by positive associations - love relationships, marriage, friendly contacts and agreements. In addition, the signs correlate with protection - the armor of warriors, chain mail, consisted of small rings.
The meaning of the rune in fortune telling promises union, renewal of relationships, as well as obligations and promises.
"Connection"
This is a witch sign that promises romance. Love, karmic union, instant attraction and unity of souls. The rune suggests a connection between lovers on a spiritual level. In terms of events, this means attraction to someone who is not part of the usual social circle, or to a familiar character whom a person will look at in a new way. For couples who are in a long-term relationship, the rune promises marriage.
How to make witch runes
Making your own runic set is a great idea. In the process, a person puts a considerable amount of strength and energy into the workpiece, so in practice such an instrument is responsive.
What you will need to make witch symbols:
- Thirteen blanks made of wood, stone or bone. Pebbles or flat pieces of wood will also work. Semiprecious stones and minerals are not easy to work with and operate with large volumes of energy, so they remain the responsibility of advanced esotericists.
- Cutter, paint or burning set. The method of applying pictograms is at your discretion.
- Creative approach is welcome. Wicca does not require a formal attitude; on the contrary, a positive emotional charge is more important than following the rules.
Cleaning and activation
Freshly made or new runes purchased in the store must be cleaned before activation. Wiccan witch cleansing rites refer to the following algorithm:
- Place the witch symbols in a bowl of salt overnight;
- The next morning, rinse the dies under running water;
- Pass each rune over the fire.
Each element requires a verbal or mental appeal to itself. It is not necessary to use ready-made spells or spells, speak from pure heart. At the end of the cleansing, thank each element that participated in the ritual.
Activation requires frequent contact with runes. At first, it is advisable to keep them with you at all times, sort them out, put them under the pillow, and even talk to them.
WITCH RUNES
Witch runes are a modern variation of historical runes with pictographs that represent gods, goddesses and symbols familiar to modern witches. This is a set of 13 divination runes, specially designed for witches. In general, runes are an ancient oracle that has not been used for more than 400 years. They were used in the past during the early Middle Ages. The first glyphs or alphabets were called runes from the Gothic "runa", which means "secret thing, secret". From the very beginning, runes performed a ritual function, serving for casting lots, fortune telling and calling higher powers. Runes were carved on amulets, drinking cups, spears and on the prows of Viking longships, especially those that had healing and magical properties. Runes were also used for protection during travel or in battle. The ancients used runes for many purposes.
Now let's think about how to guess at them.
Why “speculate” and not give precise instructions for use? Well, firstly, mantika on witch runes (as well as on the runes of other magical traditions) is work at a deep level of feeling, understanding processes and connections with forces, nature...
So, for example, in order to begin to receive information from the Scandinavian runes, a long process of “getting to know” them and understanding their deep essence is necessary. Likewise with the witches' runes.
Before you start guessing on them, I would really like to recommend that you spend a lot of time to feel and comprehend their meaning. I will describe the most common values a little later. But this information will be very superficial. And only you yourself can discover their symbolism. What is needed for that? I would advise you to meditate on each rune, carefully consider the symbolism, and find something of your own. And gradually, once you start guessing, you can improve your predictive technique by gaining experience. By the way, about experience. Any witch, of course, keeps her own book of shadows. The same can be done with information from witch runes. Get a notebook where you will write down the question you ask the runes, their answer, your interpretation, and then, if necessary, an adjustment of the interpretation or more broad meaning fallen runes, which you can understand after “surviving” the situation about which the question was asked to the witches’ runes.
How to tell fortunes using the runes of witches? First of all, you need to enter your “working” state. Any witch understands perfectly well what this is. If you need an altar for this and, for example, activated elements and other attributes, create such conditions. If a tablecloth and a lit candle are enough for you, you can do this. Then, as with Scandinavian rune divination, ask a question and cast the runes. Most often on the Internet you can find the following method of “layout”: “Throw all the runes at once and look at them. You can only consider the meaning of those runes that fell with the symbols facing up. Moreover, the interpretation must begin with the important rune– fallen in the farthest position from you - and then gradually “move” forward. If all the runes fall out with the symbols facing down, then fortune telling should be stopped (you do not yet need to know the answer to the question posed) and you can return to it no earlier than in a week.” Personally, it seems to me that this is a really good option, although you don’t have to “get hung up” on it, but gradually develop your own layouts. But this is not necessary - perhaps you will “love” this method of fortune telling and will “go well.”
What else interesting would I like to write. Again, on the Internet, when describing the runes of witches, I came across a beautiful verse everywhere, which, as I understood, is recommended to be said before fortune telling.
Here he is:
"Darksome night and shining moon,
East, then South, then West, then North;
Hearken to the Witches` Rune--
Here we come to call ye forth!
Earth and water, air and fire,
Wand and pentacle and sword,
Work ye unto our desire,
Hearken ye unto our word!
Cords and censer, scourge and knife,
Powers of the witch`s blade--
Waken all ye into life,
Come ye as the charm is made!
Queen of heaven, Queen of hell
Hornud hunter of the night--
Lend your pow`r unto the spell
And work our will by magick rite!
By all the pow`r of land and sea,
By all the might of moon and sun--
As we will do, so mote it be;
Chant the spell, and be it done!"
In Russian:
On a dark night under the moon
Hear the witches rune with me
I'm coming - from the East, South,
West, North - all in a circle.
Air and fire, earth,
And water - hear me
Rod, pentacle and athame
Give life to my dreams.
Cord, censer and whip
Give me the power to take over
With the power of the Witchblade
My strength is great.
Lady of Heaven and Hell
Give me the strength that the spell needs
Hunter, my Horned God
Give what you could only give
And by the power of all the earth and sea
So be it - the winds echo me
And the power of the sun and moon
So be it - So mote it be!
(Annel's translation)
Why exactly this verse should be used, I’ll write honestly - I don’t understand. In theory, this is a text by Doreen Valiente, the high priestess of the founder of the Wicca tradition, Gerald Gardner. Doreen Valiente wrote a huge number of poems that became almost holy religious texts among Wiccans. And this verse, as far as I understand, is taken from J. Gardner’s book “Witchcraft Today. Gardnerian Book of Shadows,” where it is pronounced during one of the rituals.
Why is it written specifically when mentioning the runes of witches? Most likely because of the word “runes” that appears there. How appropriate it is to this case, I don’t know. This is up to each individual to decide.
RUNES MEANINGS:
1.
WOMEN'S RUNE: Representing the woman, the witch's wand and the Egyptian "Way of Isis", this rune is both healing and home magic. The V fork representing a woman or girl is a universal idea. This particular symbol correlates with the Finnish rune for Ilmatar, meaning "water mother"; it also represents the Virgin Mother among the Germanic common people during the Middle Ages. Secret sects associated this symbol with witchcraft, mystery and a magic wand. In essence, this rune brings a "soft influence". Therefore, do not expect things to move quickly whenever the Feminine Rune appears.
2.
MALE RUNE: This symbol was the Germanic sign of victory; it represents a raised saber in battle. When read, this rune implies that it is time for you to protect your own interests. At this time you must be firm. Now is not the time to slow down, withdraw into yourself or relax. So, you must act quickly as far as your issue is concerned. At the everyday level, the Male rune represents a person with amazing instinct or energy in your life.
3.
HARVEST RUNE: A dropped Harvest Rune in a reading predicts rewards and advantages in most areas of activity. Like the grain depicted here, the appearance of this stone brings something very significant into your life in terms of wealth, growth and happiness. You will now be able to overcome the limitations that previously hindered you. Now you can turn weaknesses into strengths, receive rewards, gifts and honors in the niche you have created for yourself. The design of this stone is very successful, but has many meanings.
4.
RUNE OF CROSSROADS: Gypsies, as well as African Americans in the past, generally considered Crossroads, also called "crossed spears", to be an evil omen. But when a rune appears in a reading, it doesn’t mean everything is bad. This is especially true for those who want change or strive to confidently achieve a desire to head in a new direction. Throughout, the Crossroads are considered to contain special powers related to the mysterious powers of the night.
5.
STAR RUNE: Basically the drawing of the Star Rune in the reading is a statement, a sign that everything is basically positive. This sign advises that it is time to move and achieve your greatest possible dreams and ideals. In essence, this is - green light, ensuring that you are on the right path, the right course. The star also represents money, jewelry, bonuses, personal fame and even romance. It involves spiritual gifts. Sometimes this can mean aligning yourself and your energy with a cause that is greater than you.
6.
RUNE OF WAVES: The Wave Rune Piece - also known as the ebb or spiral - is one of the oldest symbols. Throughout, the spiral represents water, as well as power and movement. In astrology, water is the element of sacrifice and guilt. It is the element of sinners and saints, mermaids and witches. Water represents charm, enchantment, poetry, fine arts and mystery.
But it can also hint at self-harm and self-restraint. During this period, you may feel more lonely than usual, or the questions you are seeking answers to may be left in limbo or unresolved.
7.
RUNE BRAIDS: The Scythe Rune has a powerful meaning. She may suggest events that completely shift your focus, causing you to change your strategy or plans. Often the Scythe Rune indicates that the time for the question you asked has passed, that things have changed too much to get the answer or result you are looking for.
8.
RUNE EYES: The Eye Rune represents the perspective of seeing something through such focus that you will never look at things the same way again. This rune also implies high magic, incredible psychic powers that you are able to summon, or should be able to, and with which you are able to change things through your own connections with some divine sources or intervention. This rune means that you must observe, abandon all hesitation, cast off enchantment in order to study deeply and find what is hidden from view. Drawing the Eye Rune can sometimes mean that you will be shocked by something you learn. The cards are in your hands. The force is with you. Expect the unexpected.
9.
SOLAR RUNE: The healing and abundant light of the sun is essential. Without him, our world will have to remain in the shadows. We can neither develop nor see. In the past, people had similar beliefs about the sun. They associated the sun with fertility, creative power and healing. Called cham by the gypsies, the Solar Rune sheds light on and gives energy to any psychic reading. This is the most positive rune, indicating that you are about to take a bold step or go in a new direction.
10.
MOON RUNE: The Gypsies called the Moon Rune shion or "hand of protection". The Moon represents night knowledge, imagination and self-defense. It also represents memory and habits, the things we go through because we refuse to move forward. Early goddesses such as Ishtar and Isis , wore a crescent or "moon horns".
11.
FLIGHT RUNE: The idea of birds as messengers, leaving the spirit world for the material world and then returning with important news is a universal theme. When the Flight Rune is dropped, you can be sure that news that could change the situation is on the way. This is an important part of the new. It may even change the direction you've already chosen. The Flight Rune represents many things, such as winged thought, insomnia and intuitive perception.
12.
RUNE OF RINGS: The rings were believed by some to be tools of witchcraft, capable of keeping others in bondage or under the control of spells. This symbol of slavery later changed to a more pleasant aspect as a sign of love and marriage. In essence, the Rune of Rings signifies a commitment, an agreement, a marriage, a business alliance or an eternal union between two people.
13.
ROMANTIC RUNE: The Romantic Rune offers hazy light and a lasting burn of attraction and erotic love. When this rune appears, expect instant attraction, relationships of unusual complexity with karmic connections and attachment at a deep level of the soul. The design of this stone has multiple meanings. It involves a burning desire popping up in your life, or the appearance of an insane attraction to a person outside of your usual social circle.
1. FEMALE RUNE: Representing the woman, the witch's wand and the Egyptian "Way of Isis", this rune relates to both healing and home magic. The V fork representing a woman or girl is a universal idea.
