Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Verily, the Lord has ninety-nine names. Whoever learns them will enter Paradise.".
Imam an-Nawawi, may Allah have mercy on him, said the following regarding this hadith: “Scholars unanimously agree that this hadith does not imply that Allah has only ninety-nine names, or that He has no other names besides these ninety-nine. Rather, the meaning of the hadith is that whoever learns these ninety-nine names will enter Paradise. The point is that whoever knows these names will enter Paradise, and not that the number of names is limited.” Thus, every true Muslim must know the 99 names of Allah.
The names of the Almighty (Arabic: Asma al-Husna - beautiful names) are usually arranged according to the order of their mention in the Holy Qur'an or according to the Arabic alphabet. The name "Allah" - the highest name (al-sim al-"azam), as a rule, is not included in the list and is called the hundredth. Since the Qur'an does not give an unambiguous list of names, in different traditions it may differ in one or two names.
The Koran prescribes the use of the names of Allah in prayers, duas, and dhikr. In lists, the names of Allah are usually given with the Arabic definite article “al-”. But if any name of Allah is mentioned in a prayer not as part of a phrase, but by itself, then instead of “al-” it is pronounced “ya-” (for example, “Ya Jalil” - “Oh, Majestic!”).
“Allah has the most beautiful names. Therefore call upon Him through them, and forsake those who deviate from the truth regarding His names.”
Holy Quran. Surah 7 Al-Araf / The Fences, verse 180
“Call on Allah or call on the Most Merciful! No matter how you call upon Him, He has the most beautiful names.”
Holy Quran. Sura 17 "Al-Isra" / "Night Transfer", verse 110
“He is Allah, and there is no deity but Him, Knower of the unseen and the manifest, He is the Gracious, the Merciful.
He is Allah, and there is no deity but Him, the Sovereign, the Holy, the Most Pure, the Protector, the Guardian, the Mighty, the Mighty, the Proud. Exalted is Allah and is far from what they associate as partners.
He is Allah, the Creator, the Creator, the Giver of Form. He has the most beautiful names. That which is in heaven and on earth glorifies Him. He is the Mighty, the Wise."
Holy Quran. Sura 59 "Al-Hashr" / "The Gathering", verse 22-24

Classification
All 99 names can be divided into two or three groups according to their characteristics. Firstly, there is a distinction between the names of the essence of God (adh-dhāt) and the names of His qualities (aṣ-ṣifāt), and, secondly, the origin of the name is distinguished: traditional names and names that follow directly from the Koran or indirectly from it. In the theology of Islam, there are more detailed classifications, in particular, among the names of qualities, the names of mercy and severity, beauty and greatness, and others can be distinguished.
The concepts of tanzīh and tashbīh reflect the problem of anthropomorphism in Islam. Tanzih means that it is impossible to compare God with man. On the other hand, a person perceives the divine through the prism of his life concepts and capabilities, therefore, he describes God with such names as Independent, Illustrious, etc., corresponding to the tanziha tradition. Tashbikh is the opposite of tanzikh, implying the similarity of something to something. As a religious concept, it means the ability to describe the divine through qualities created by God. Tashbikh includes the names Merciful, Loving, Forgiving, etc. (Based on materials:
Islamic theologians emphasize that the names of Allah are not fixed in a strict externally given sequence, but are resonantly associated with the internal aspiration-will of the human soul to answer the Divine call. A person is able to comprehend revelation only when he comprehends its true meaning and reflects on it. The Holy Quran is the uncreated Word of Allah, but in order to perceive It, one must comprehend It with the fullness of the heart, the depth of the soul - Sheikh Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen substantiates this idea (Ideal rules relating to the beautiful names and qualities of Allah. First Russian edition. . Translated from Arabic Kuliev Elmir Rafael oglu. Editor and author of the Preface to the Russian edition, Doctor of Law, Sheikh Abu Umar Salim Al-Ghazzi):
"/p. 34: / The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, also said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, one hundred without one, and /p. 35/Whoever counts them will enter Paradise.” This hadith was narrated by al-Bukhari (6410), Muslim (2677), at-Tirmidhi (5/3507) from the words of Abu Hurayra, may Allah Almighty be pleased with him. Moreover, at-Tirmidhi’s version contains interpolation. To count means to remember these beautiful names by heart, understand their meaning and, finally, worship Allah in accordance with their meaning. However, this hadith does not indicate that the number of beautiful names of Allah is limited to this number. If this were so, then the text of the hadith would, for example, be as follows: “The names of Allah are ninety-nine, and whoever counts them will enter Paradise.”
Therefore, the hadith says that anyone who counts the ninety-nine names of Allah will go to Paradise, and the last sentence of this hadith is not an independent statement, but the logical conclusion of the previous thought. Imagine a person saying, “I have one hundred dirhams and I am going to give them away as a donation.” This does not mean that he does not have other dirhams that he is not going to donate.
As for what names of Allah are meant, there is not a single reliable message about this. And the hadith, which lists the ninety-nine names of Allah, is weak. We are talking about a hadith, which says that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: “Allah has ninety-nine names, and whoever counts them will enter Paradise. This is Allah, besides Whom there is no other deity, the Gracious, the Merciful...” This hadith was transmitted by at-Tirmidhi (3507), al-Beyhaki in the collection “Shuab al-Iman” (102), Ibn Majah (3860) and Ahmad (2/258) from the words of Abu Hurayra, may Allah Almighty be pleased with him.
Sheikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyya wrote: “The listing of names does not relate to the words of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, on which experts in theology and hadith are unanimous” (See “Majmu al-Fatawa”, vol. 6, p. 382) . He also wrote: “Al-Walid related this hadith from the words of his teachers from Sham, which is mentioned in some versions of the hadith” (see “Majmu al-Fatawa”, vol. 6, p. 379). Ibn Hajar wrote: “The Hadith on this topic, transmitted by al-Bukhari and Muslim, are devoid of shortcomings. However, al-Walid's version differs from others. It is confusing and possibly contains interpolation” (See “Fath al-Bari”, vol. 11, p. 215).
Since the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, did not define the ninety-nine names of Allah, Muslim theologians expressed different opinions on this matter. As for me, I collected ninety-nine names that I was able to find in the writings of Allah Almighty and the Sunnah of His Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

In this sequence, I have arranged eighty-one names from the scripture of Allah Almighty and eighteen names from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. At the same time, I doubted whether the name “al-Hafi” (Hospitable, Compassionate) should be included among the beautiful names of Allah, because in the Holy Quran this epithet is associated with the prophet Ibrahim. He said: “Peace be with you! I will ask my Lord to grant you forgiveness, since He is lenient towards me” (Sura Maryam, verse 47). I was also hesitant about the name “al-Muhsin” (The Virtuous) because I did not find the corresponding hadith in the collection of at-Tabarani, but Sheikh-ul-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah mentioned this name along with others.
At the same time, some other wonderful names can be added to this list, for example: “Malik al-Mulk” (Lord of the Kingdom), “Zul-Jalal wa al-Ikram” (Possessing greatness and glory).”
Sheikh Muhammad Ben Salih al-Uthaymeen demonstrated above an attempt to subjectively build 99 beautiful Names of Allah down to their new sounds and meanings, and this once again poses the problem of a more strict classification of them. Indo-Pakistani Ahmadi theologians working on the Russian edition Holy Quran They did not turn to the Sunnah at all, but proceeded from the verses of the Koranic suras. As we see, there is a clear discrepancy both in composition (from 99 to 122 and beyond) and in the order of listing the beautiful Names of Allah, not to mention the frequent absence of references to sacred texts and Arabic styles of a number of beautiful Names. In general, for a long time, right up to the present Recent Times, little attention was paid to a strictly systematic comprehension of the Holy Scriptures, only Christian theologians have tried to approach the New Testament in detail, however, they are still far from adequately understanding it. So the faithful have a lot of work ahead of them.
“Just as friction with the earth cleanses iron from rust, so repeating the Names of Allah (Allah) cleanses our hearts from everything bad,” said the Prophet. The inscriptions of 99 beautiful Names of Allah can be enjoyed on the website of the Crimean Tatar youth. My conclusion is the following - there are 99 names or qualities or attributes (syfat) of Allah, and a true believer must master and comprehend them, however, the nuances and shades of each of the beautiful Names of Allah in pronunciation and even in inscription on Arabic The Holy Quran and the Most Pure Sunnah can vary, which not only creates the illusion of the existence of more than 99 names, but also opens the way to the subjective classification of these 99 names - for example, according to the scheme of 11 transcendences + 22 existentials + 33 categories, for Allah is above all things and therefore with its 99 beautiful Names it is certainly associated with Being and Nothingness.
