Incubi and succubi visit night demons. Who are Incubi and Succubi? Purpose of their visit
Most often mention of succubi And incubi causes an ambiguous grin due to associations with some kind of forbidden sexual games. But not everything is so harmless. Incubi and succubi are demonic entities that feed on a person’s sexual energy by engaging in sexual contact with them.
As a rule, they come when a person is in a drowsy state, and completely paralyze his body and will. During sexual intercourse, the victim of an attack experiences the highest degree of pleasure, but this does not prevent her from simultaneously experiencing fear and confusion.
Slutty DEMONS
Sexual energy is the most powerful source of nutrition for energy vampires. It was they who came to people from ancient times under the guise of succubi and incubi in order to have sexual intercourse with them. So who are they, these sleep demons?
Incubi in medieval Europe were called dissolute demons who visited women at night and seduced them in their sleep. The word "incubus" comes from the Latin "incubare", which means "to lie on". The most delicious prey for incubi were nuns. A succubus (from Latin succuba, concubine) is a demoness in medieval legends who visits young men at night and causes them to have voluptuous dreams.
However, another Latin word was used to designate this creature - succubus ("to lie under"), which is masculine. This is probably due to the fact that, according to demonologists, a succubus is a devil in female form. Succubi preferred to seduce hermits and priests, not disdaining, however, the sinful male population.
It is difficult to say what succubi and incubi look like, since they can take on different forms. Most often, the incubus is described as a disgusting creature resembling a goat, although this description fits most demons of the Middle Ages. The Compendium Maleficarum, an occult book published in 1608, says: “The incubus can take on both male and female forms, sometimes it appears as a man in the prime of life, sometimes as a satyr; in front of a woman who is known as a witch, he usually takes the form of a lustful goat.”
In addition, a demon can appear to a person in the form of a dog, cat, deer, bull, raven, stork, or snake. However, you must admit that not all of these images are acceptable for a sexual relationship with a woman, so in the Middle Ages it was believed that demons could acquire a bodily shell by possessing another person, or using the bodies of recently hanged people for contact. And sometimes they force you to come up with an image of a partner and then appear in this image.
As for succubi, they visit men in the form of beautiful demonesses with clawed feet and webbed wings.
DREAM OR REALITY?
Researchers from different eras have several opinions about the nature of the appearance of succubi and incubi. Early demonologists believed that these were a kind of dream demons, real creatures of another, parallel world. There is no space and time in our understanding. But it is possible that that world intersects at some level with our world, and this provides an opportunity for otherworldly inhabitants to explore our lives and ourselves.
In the Middle Ages, demonologists began to believe that these entities were messengers of the devil or himself, in person. It is in this exquisite way that demons destroy human souls, that is, they lead them to eternal destruction. Another interesting version is that succubi and incubi are the children of Lilith, Adam’s first wife.
And someone saw them as spirits of nature. For example, in 1801, Francis Barrett's The Magus said: “When the forest nymphs and fauns saw that they were superior in beauty to other spirits, they began to produce offspring and began to marry men, imagining that by such intercourse they would gain immortality. soul for yourself and your descendants." It is interesting that in the pre-Christian era, kinship with any spirit was a source of pride for the family.
Scientists also have their own opinion on this matter. They believe that the appearance of these entities is associated with erotic experiences against the background of prolonged abstinence, flowing into erotic dreams. This version can be confirmed by the fact that most often monks appear in various stories about encounters with succubi. Perhaps their psyche is in this way trying to compensate for the deprivations of an ascetic lifestyle.
Perhaps the most interesting is the story of Pope Sylvester II (999-1003), described by Walter Mapes in De Nugis Curialium (c. 1185). According to her, the future dad once met a girl of amazing beauty named Meridiana, who promised the young man wealth and her magical services if he agreed to be with her. The young man agreed. Every night he enjoyed the company of his mysterious lover. And it was she who helped his rapid ascent in the Catholic hierarchy.
STOLEN SEED
If succubi and incubi are unreal creatures, then the question arises about the origin of their seed. In the Middle Ages, most experts were inclined to believe that succubi stole male semen and either passed it on to incubi, or turned into them themselves in order to spend the night with a woman and conceive another devil's offspring. This is, for example, mentioned in the treatise “The Witches Hammer”.
All stories about the sexual exploits of these demons talk about the cold seed of the incubi. At the same time, it is emphasized that the demon, although he tries to warm him up, cannot overcome this lack of his sexual nature.
The Holy Inquisition collected a lot of information about sexual contacts with the devil. Thus, in 1660, the witch Isabel Gowdy testified: “The devil was as cold as spring water within me.” Another “victim,” Zhanna Abadie, admitted to the demonologist that the devil’s seed was unusually cold, so she could not become pregnant from him.
A logical question arises: if the seed is cold, that is, no longer suitable for conception, then why do the partners of incubi still become pregnant? Demonologists puzzled over the answer for a long time, until they finally came to the conclusion that demons have the ability to move so quickly that the stolen seed does not have time to lose its viability.
SAVE OUR SOULS
Thus, some myths claim that the father of the legendary sorcerer Merlin was the incubus who seduced the nun. The same treatise says that the children of incubi and earthly women are stronger and more capable than ordinary offspring, since “demons can know the power of the spilled seed” and choose the most suitable partner for procreation, and even at the most favorable time. Paradoxically, it turns out that they contribute to the improvement of the human race.
An example of the offspring of incubi is Gilles de Laval de Retz, commonly known as Bluebeard. A comrade-in-arms of Joan of Arc, he was already a marshal of France at the age of 25. This notorious scoundrel has 800 tortured and killed children. However, shortly before the execution to which the court sentenced him, he repented and even received absolution.
From this we can conclude that the offspring of demons can count on the salvation of their souls, unlike their parents. Perhaps this is why the incubi, jealous of the immortality of the human soul, through an alliance with people, strive to give the same soul to their children.
RUTHLESS LOVE
Encounters with succubi and incubi still occur today. Ufologist G. Belimov, who lives in the city of Volzhsky, spoke about one of these cases. One day the mother of a 34-year-old woman approached him. She was worried that, despite her youth, her daughter had already been married four times.
She believed that her daughter's personal life was not working out because of some entity visiting her and having sexual contact with her. The daughter's first meeting with the incubus took place when the girl turned 17 and men began to appear in her life.
The young woman said that at night she felt cold, heard footsteps and felt that someone was lying down next to her. Moreover, no matter what position she lay in, he always approached from behind, so she could not see the demon. Since the victims of incubi always fall into a stupor, there was no way to turn and look at the sensualist: “Once I saw his hand when he put it in front of me.
An ordinary man's hand, sparse hair is clearly visible, the hand is cool. I tried to turn around, but he pressed on my shoulder, preventing me from looking. And he removed his hand. Sexual intercourse always occurs only in the position from the back. You feel the weight of a normal large man.” One could attribute everything to a dream, but she clearly heard the creaking of the bed, his breathing and other accompanying noises.
It must be said that the demon did not appear in the presence of her husband. He came only when the woman was alone. Moreover, sexual intercourse always ended with an orgasm, which she received whenever she wanted. The woman noted that the sensations were much sharper than with an ordinary man. She suggests that her marriages failed because she unwittingly compared partners.
In addition, her relationships with men ended due to strange force majeure circumstances that occurred with her partners. Either problems with work, then moving, then illness, then arrest, then alcohol. There was always something new, but it happened too naturally to be mistaken for random coincidences.
At Belimov’s request, she tried to talk with the guest, but the dialogue did not work. When the woman began to persistently ask him the question: “Why are you coming?”, the demon left and returned only a few days later, and for some time did not have sexual contact with her. She noted that although she felt that his body was cold, it did not cause discomfort.
She did not feel her partner's seed. After he left, she immediately fell into a deep sleep. Nevertheless, after each night of love, the woman felt weak and sleep-deprived. The demon appeared spontaneously, he could come several times a week, but it happened that only once a month, that is, the initiative came exclusively from him. But he never appeared on “critical days.”
The newspaper “Anomaly” once told a story that happened to a woman from St. Petersburg in March 1982. One day, while spending the night with a friend, she woke up from an unpleasant sound - iron grinding on glass:
“Suddenly I felt that, starting from my legs, something heavy began to fall on me, pressing down. On the wall, against the background of the carpet, I saw a loose shadow appear, and on my back lay a figure with a large head and a wide back. And suddenly the act began. My fear suddenly passed, since you are doing this, then be kind... The feeling was wonderful. Much better than with an earthly creature. Then there was a feeling that I was wrapped in warmth, bliss and affection. Then the shadow and heaviness began to evaporate from the sides to the middle of the back.
The stiffness of the neck, head, and arms disappeared. No fear, no constraint. I sat up on the bed, stunned, wondering whether I was dreaming or not. But the feeling was very real, still not a dream. The friend next to me was sleeping deeply, she didn’t even move. I had never had erotic dreams before. She told her mother about what happened. She replied that this happened to her twice in her youth.”
It turns out that both women describe the same sensations from contact with an incubus, which means this cannot be fiction.
Dissolute demons visit not only women, they also come to men, although much less often. Demonologists believe that there are ten times fewer succubi than incubi. And if earlier, seducing a man, they came to him in the form of a captivating beauty, but nowadays they are invisible.
A certain Moscow artist talks about his encounters with a succubus:
“I experience all the actions of this force at night. I go to bed exactly at 23 o'clock. But then, after five to ten minutes, I begin to feel a slight but frequent vibration and shaking of my bed.
Then, barely perceptibly, something rolls under the blanket and, like elastic air, envelops my body. The blanket begins to float above me... This is a “friend”, “bride”, and possibly “wife” (I live alone), mysterious, more refined in her feelings and desires, every day, without delay, at 23:10 minutes comes to see me on a date. She immediately, as if bored by the day’s separation, begins to caress me with light, airy touches.
The feeling of fear has long been gone - I’ve been treated kindly, I’ve gotten used to these “tendernesses”, but it’s still disgusting, unpleasant. But the most unpleasant thing for me is that after all the gentle touches I begin to feel the impact on the sexual center... I never allow myself to be brought to climax - I sharply throw up the blanket and say seven times: “Don’t touch!” Everything stops, but after about an hour it starts again. And so three or four times a night you have to take up your shield and sword..."
FROM UNINQUETED GUESTS
At all times, a relationship with an incubus has been equated to bestiality, and with a succubus - to sodomy, since a succubus is the same devil, only in a female form. Essentially speaking, an attack by an incubus or succubus is rape, because most often sexual intercourse is performed without the consent of the victim. And the state of a person after such a visit is very reminiscent of the state of a person raped: a feeling of weakness, devastation, the body aches, you don’t want to live.
It is difficult to resist the harassment of demons; it requires willpower and the ability to switch your thoughts to other topics without returning to the sexual topic.
According to believers, during the period of exorcism of the demon it is strictly forbidden to eat meat and drink alcoholic beverages. Every day from 11 pm to 2 am a lamp should burn in front of the image of Jesus Christ.
Before going to bed, the bedroom should be ventilated and fumigated with incense. On the eastern side an image of the Most Holy Theotokos is placed, in front of which a pure wax candle is lit. The Lord's Prayer and other prayers are read to help get rid of uninvited guests.
Galina BELYSHEVA
Let's talk about the demon of temptation. The incubus comes to women and with its charms can easily seduce them. In the article we will reveal the methods of summoning, the consequences of the incubus’s visit and the types of protection from this creature. The demon incubus takes on the appearance of the ideal man that a woman dreams of. He feeds on feminine energy in the process of seduction. It is important to understand the difference between incubi and succubi. Unlike the incubus, the succubus demon comes to men and has a female image. These demons are controlled by Lilith, considered the first wife of Adam.
An incubus is a demon that comes to women in their dreams to take away their energy through kissing and sex.
An incubus is a demon that takes on the image of an impeccable man that exists in the head of every woman. Images can differ significantly in appearance, character, smell and even timbre of voice. Demons easily receive information embedded in the head of every woman. It will not be difficult for him to take on any form, and sometimes even remain invisible, but the woman will be able to feel his closeness.
The interpretation of what incubi looked like in the Middle Ages was somewhat different. In those days, it was believed that a woman was a sinful creature who was easily influenced by demons. According to the notes of the inquisitors, incubi often came to women in the form of animals. But even such an unattractive image did not become an obstacle to physical connection with a woman.
The demon knows perfectly well what his victim wants, he does everything in such a way that the woman cannot and does not want to resist. Often the visits of the demonic entity are repeated; they know how to make a woman dependent. Sex with an incubus gives pleasure that cannot be compared with an ordinary earthly man.
Therefore, victims automatically, against their will, want repeated visits from the demon. An addiction arises that cannot be controlled. The woman remembers a kiss with an incubus, in her thoughts she wishes for a date with a demon, who readily responds. Sometimes these meetings become daily.
Why do they come?
Incubi feed on feminine energy, without it they cannot exist for a long time. A woman cannot stop, even her character can change. Such visits have a negative impact on a woman’s health, because each time she loses energy. Women constantly get sick, have difficulties getting pregnant, and lose the desire to work, be creative, and communicate with others.
There are legends that you can conceive a child from a relationship with an incubus. The child will receive a human appearance from his mother and paranormal tendencies inherited from his father. There are other theories according to which incubi and succubi are basically the same thing. The genetic material is taken by the demon from the seduced man, then transferred to the seduced woman. For what purpose he does this, no one knows.
Signs of People Attracting a Demon's Attention
- Demons have their favorites. They are partial to extremes. Most of all they like to seduce ascetics or very dissolute, prodigal people. They viewed sinners as allies who would do in the physical world what demons could not, there was very little chance that they would resist. The demon has deep knowledge of the desires of its victims, the likelihood of refusal is reduced to zero.
- Ascetics and righteous people are also favorite targets of demons, but for a different reason. Incubi believe that if they manage to seduce a nun who actively resists the forces of hell, then the world will lose another pure soul. It can be very difficult to persuade the righteous; the only way is a complete change in character. The Incubi love this and do everything they can to win the nuns and ascetics over to their side.
- Asceticism does not only apply to nuns, it is also inherent in girls who keep their virginity until marriage, as well as widows. This category may also be victims of demons who are constantly looking for new sources of energy.
Signs of a Demon's Presence
It is very easy to recognize the appearance of an incubus. It usually appears at a time when the woman has not yet fallen into deep sleep, but is no longer awake. Most visits are made at night or early in the morning before dawn.
In the Middle Ages, during loss of consciousness, convulsions or epilepsy, it was believed that an incubus appeared to people. Nowadays, it is known that in case of convulsions, fainting and similar symptoms, you need to call a doctor.
One of the signs of the presence of an incubus is loss of appetite and mood. The girl may be half asleep and not communicate with anyone. It may seem that she is somewhere in her fantasy world. Girls dream about their demon, think only about him, other thoughts simply do not come to mind, and when parting with him, she can completely wither away.
Incubi can take on human form. Very experienced demons can take the form of an acquaintance of their victim, even her husband or friend. Seduced women may think that they spent the night with an acquaintance and expect the relationship to continue - very often it is difficult to distinguish a colorful dream from reality. Victims of incubi subsequently develop depression, they suffer from loneliness and loss of health.
Eyewitness accounts
How to recognize an incubus demon in a dream.
Many notes from witnesses about incubi have reached us. The most ancient ones were created in the Middle Ages by monks and inquisitors. If demons managed to reach representatives of the clergy, this was a huge achievement for them. Nuns often became victims of incubi. From the documents it becomes clear that communication with a demon was considered more sinful than communication with an earthly person.
The inquisitors left materials in which they tell how to protect themselves from incubus and succubus. The inquisitors received most of their information from victims of demons; they were almost never burned at the stake.
Of particular interest were those women who had a child after a union with a demon. These children were also examined by inquisitors. They tried not to leave the woman to whom the demon appeared alone, but to spy on her to get answers to many questions about evil spirits.
In the modern world, there are also stories of eyewitnesses who had to meet with incubi not so long ago. According to eyewitnesses, incubi appeared during sleep or a half-asleep state. Almost no one saw the demon's face, some spoke of vague images or only a tangible image, but everyone agreed on the desire for repeated visits.
Basically, most of the victims of demons were engaged in magic, had paranormal abilities, that is, they showed interest in otherworldly forces. After parting with the incubus, they began to feel depressed. Defenses carried out in the church helped very rarely, and visits could continue for many years.
Teenagers who have not yet had sexual relations need to be especially careful, as they can often become the choice of incubi. Typically, teenagers do not tell their parents about their connection with a demon. Many will not believe those who dare to tell.
Summoning a demon at home
There is a way to summon an incubus at home, but first you need to understand that the success of the ritual depends on the degree of your interest in the dark world. The incubus loves libertines, but after his appearance you will become completely dependent on him. These factors must be taken into account and assessed before proceeding with the ritual of summoning a demonic creature.
The incubus responds only to the call of a lonely woman who has not had a physical relationship with a man for a long time. She must have a strong libido and energy. The incubus feels this very well; only such a woman can interest him. A man should call a succubus.
Appeal to Asmodeus
You can ask the demon Asmodeus for this favor. He also rules over these demons. To summon an incubus, before going to bed, create an image in which you want the demon to appear. In bed, relaxing and closing your eyes, you need to repeat the following words, which you need to memorize in advance; you will not be able to read them.
O great Asmodeus, prince of all succubi and incubi! I urge you to send me an incubus to make my most passionate desires come true.
Appeal to the Incubus
Instead of Asmodeus, you can try turning to the incubus himself. If he is nearby, he most likely will not miss his chance, especially if the victim herself calls him voluntarily. To do this, repeat the following phrase three times in a row:
I, (name), call upon you, incubus.
After this, try not to fall asleep, but remain with your eyes closed. It should appear fairly quickly. You will notice the presence of an incubus immediately without having to open your eyes.
Protection from Incubus
Although religious people and priests advise having icons and hanging crosses in the bedroom, many eyewitnesses testify that this very rarely works. Strong and sincere faith in the Almighty, as well as willpower and a strong desire to resist the seductive spell of demons, can protect against demons.
In the Middle Ages they loved to study incubi. The inquisitors tried to understand the goals and desires of the evil spirits and invent methods of protection against them. If he came to a woman, it was believed that she was to blame for this, so her punishment was imprisonment in a monastery, where she had to be cleansed of sins. Sometimes, instead of the monastery, women became participants. During this ritual, the demon was expelled so that it could not receive the woman's energy, but this did not always end in success. Often it was also necessary to confess a woman, who had to tell all her sins.
There are several other methods of protection against incubi that are recommended by modern magicians. The simplest is moving to another apartment, or better yet, to another city or country. Constantly say the prayers of the Our Father and the Virgin Mary.
It is also advised not to fall asleep alone, although this will not hurt the incubus, since it can put everyone to sleep except the victim. Use incense and garlic, which evil spirits do not like. You can also use vinegar or amethyst.
Conclusion
It is useful for everyone to know about incubi so as not to become its victim. Some of you may want to meet an incubus. Depending on the attitude and interest in dark mania, for some the ritual will be successful, for others it will not. You should remember the consequences. Depression and health problems are serious things and should not be joked about.
Video “Who are Incubi and Succubi”
If in the Middle Ages it was believed that such creatures as monks were trying to seduce and drive them away from the church, then what was the situation with the nuns? After all, the timid handmaids of the Lord would hardly have paid attention to a girl, albeit a beautiful one. But resourcefulness knows no bounds. As, indeed, is human resourcefulness. Therefore, references began to appear about special creatures that received the name incubus. And unlike lustful succubus, incubi are much more cruel and purposeful.
In general, an incubus can be described as a beautiful man with huge demonic wings on his back. If succubi are characterized by small wings, then in their true form incubi have wings whose span sometimes reaches six meters. Also present are the curved ram horns characteristic of many demonic creatures. And of course, the true appearance of an incubus is characterized by a lion’s tail, growing from the tailbone. But incubi take their true form extremely rarely and reluctantly, mainly for fights that often occur between them and other creatures - this is due to the dominant and powerful nature of incubi.
In addition to their dominant character, incubi are also characterized by cold calculation and sober logic. He seduces the girl not by acting on natural lust or using his magical powers. Incubus is characterized by subtle psychological work. And if a similar creature, a succubus, is more likely to become the heroine of a film with a huge age limit, then the incubus will become the hero of a thriller, which gradually becomes the center of the universe for the girl and occupies all her thoughts. Incubi tend to show minor signs of attention, flirt with girls, take their time and behave decently, but only so that the girl relaxes and demonstrates the worst that is in her, and the incubus can increase these traits with ease.
Habitat and social status
In the Middle Ages, it was believed that the favorite habitat of incubi were areas adjacent to nunneries, where the creature could choose a victim or several and act calmly and without haste. With the advent of progress, the incubi paid attention to social status and began to achieve it very calmly and confidently - sober and logical thinking allows them to eliminate competitors without harming them. But all this until the incubus encounters its own kind or another creature. Then their anger and rage awaken, which pour out in a terrible scream that is able to crumble all the glass on one small street. Anyone who hears this scream experiences panic horror, and the one at whom it is directed simply turns into stone. Therefore, sometimes the consequences of an incubi fight are confused with the presence. And the incubus that wins the fight takes the place of the opponent or, having eliminated the competitor, begins to make its way even higher. The awareness of impunity and power attracts these creatures, allowing them to realize their talents to the greatest extent.
Origin of Incubi
Incubi are not your typical Christian demons. These are creatures of the highest cunning and highest knowledge. They do not come from ordinary sinners. The path to incubi is open only to the strongest sorcerers, who are not only able to survive rebirth without losing their memory, but are also able to control this process and sometimes even know how to convert others. Incubi do not report to any of the demons and are quite headstrong. They do not collect souls and loot - they hunt for power and strength, just as liches hunt for knowledge. But the path to such magical power is very thorny and not everyone goes through it completely, which explains the enormous rarity of these creatures.
Incubi are born leaders and leaders. But the funniest fact associated with them is the content of the harem. And we are not talking about mere mortal girls, although they also often voluntarily become part of such harems. No, incubi are more interested in gaining power over other creatures and preferably female ones - succubi,
A succubus (from Latin succuba, concubine) is a demoness in medieval legends who visits young men at night and causes them to have voluptuous dreams. Oddly enough, when medieval demonologists described succubi, the word succuba was used extremely rarely.
Incubus, or incubon (incubonius) (incubus, from Latin incubo, to lie supine) - in medieval legends, a dissolute demon seeking sexual relations with women. It is also called: follet (French), alb (German), duende (Spanish), folleto (Italian). The corresponding demon that appears before men is called a succubus.
Another Latin word was used to name this class of creatures: succubus, which is masculine. This is probably due to the fact that, according to demonologists, a succubus is a devil in female form. Often described as a young, attractive female, however, having clawed feet and sometimes webbed wings.
In Christianity, incubi and succubi are considered demons. But even before Christianity, since the times of the Greeks, for example, Ephialtes, strangling demons, have been known. Their Western equivalent is Mara, from whose name the word nightmare itself may be derived. The testimonies of contemporaries who are visited by entities at night, strangle them, sit on their chests, are very similar to the testimonies of other contemporaries who are raped by similar entities.
On the nature of succubi and incubi
As long as the belief in succubi and incubi exists, the number of explanations for the nature of succubi is just as great. And researchers from different eras saw a wide variety of phenomena in succubi.
For early demonologists, apparently, succubi were a kind of dream demons, real beings of the non-human world. In the Middle Ages, their reality was not questioned, only the interpretation changed. Now these were either messengers of the devil, or he himself in female guise. Later, when it is noticed that the appearance of such mysterious lovers often occurs in a special “borderline” state of consciousness: between sleep and wakefulness, for example, skeptics will attribute succubi to various kinds of hallucinations and fantasies of a sexual nature, and occultists to the manifestation of the influence of astral light on a person.
Psychologists also have their own version. In Carl Gustav Jung’s book “Psychological Types” in the chapter “Nominalism and Realism” we can find a description of cases of the devil appearing to confessors. These visions were interpreted as an attempt by the monks' unconscious to compensate for the one-sidedness of their conscious attitude. Since monks appear very often in the stories we know about succubi, we can see in this the same attempts to compensate for the ascetic lifestyle on the part of the psyche.
Appearance of incubi
In most cases, the incubus is described as an ugly creature, often resembling a goat (one of the images of the devil), although this appearance was attributed to most demons during the Middle Ages. So in the Compendium Maleficarum (1608) it is said: “The incubus can take on both male and female guise, sometimes it appears as a man in the prime of life, sometimes as a satyr; in front of a woman who is known as a witch, he usually takes the form of a lustful goat.” Among other images, incubi appear in the guise of a dog, cat, deer, bull, roe deer, bird, especially a crow or stork, as well as in the form of a snake. However, even the bestial appearance did not prevent the incubus from having a carnal relationship with a woman.
Although the incubus' propensity for debauchery itself was not questioned, in the Middle Ages there was some discussion about how disembodied demons could acquire a body and get along with women. One of the later demonologists, Sinistari (died 1701), explained that a demon can take on a bodily shell, inhabiting another person, or creating a body for itself from various materials. Others believed that demons used corpses for these purposes, especially the bodies of recently hanged people.
Incubus Seed
Even more controversy arose around the question of the origin of the incubi seed.
Some believed that it was possible to become pregnant from an incubus, since the demon collects the semen of corpses or semen emitted during nocturnal eruptions or masturbations, and “thanks to speed and knowledge of physical laws, preserves this seed in its natural warmth.” The medieval treatise "The Hammer of the Witches" states that demons, as succubi, collect male semen, store it in their bodies, and then, as incubi, impregnate women, in accordance with the position of the stars, with the aim of producing offspring that are initially predisposed to evil under the influence of the planets.
Others, on the contrary, believed that it was impossible to get pregnant from an incubus, since its seed was nothing more than a fake, sometimes even very bad. So Jeanne d'Abadie admitted to de Lancre that "the devil's seed was unusually cold, so she could not become pregnant from him." Cases of children being born from an incubus were explained by such demonologists by the fact that the demon provides abducted babies for the birth.
Incubi's desire for intercourse
Demonologists also did not have a clear opinion about the reasons why demons sought the bed of a human woman.
Some believed that the reason for this was the unbridled lust of demons, that incubi seek to satisfy their passion for various kinds of perversions, which is why, instead of getting together with their own kind, they seek contact with human women. Others believed that since spirits “cannot experience either joy or pleasure,” they get together with a person only in order to humiliate him, secretly mocking their would-be lovers, who, by the way, sometimes even recognizing the sinfulness of the union, do not sought to get rid of the demonic admirer. Another version says that demons and nature spirits, jealous of the immortality of the human soul, strive to give such a soul to their offspring through an alliance with people.
Be that as it may, however, a relationship with an incubus was considered a much more serious sin than adultery, since it was equated to bestiality, and relationships with succubi were equated to sodomy, because a succubus is the same devil, only in a female form. With the rise of the Inquisition and witch trials, descriptions of incubi and succubi became increasingly terrifying. If in early reports women and men admit to the incredible pleasures that demonic lovers gave them, then in later reports, women admit that intercourse caused them incredible pain.
Parallels
In fact, medieval demonologists were not the inventors of incubi, since stories of human intercourse with nature spirits, demons and pagan gods are present in many cultures and beliefs. In ancient Greek mythology, Zeus was distinguished by great debauchery and fell in love with mortal women, for example, Semele, who gave birth to Dionysus.
The Romans considered incubi to be spirits and attributed to them phenomena that the Russians attribute to the brownie, i.e. attacking sleepy people at night, scaring them, etc.
The Greeks also knew a similar spirit and called it ephialtes (jumping). The Romans considered incubi to be creatures of the same breed as fauns, sylvans, etc. Voluptuous dreams, especially among women, were also attributed to visits from incubi. The flower of paeonia, which was collected in superstitious rituals at night, was used as a cure for strangulation by incubi. According to other beliefs, also reminiscent of Russian brownies, incubi were considered the guardians of household wealth, as well as treasures, which can be easily found if you manage to steal his invisibility cap from the incubus.
The view of official science
Official science adheres to the following point of view on incubi and succubi
As is known, during a period of prolonged sexual abstinence, wet dreams are a natural compensatory mechanism that promotes periodic emptying of the tract and prevents congestion in the genitals. Consequently, the stricter the abstinence, the more often wet dreams and accompanying erotic dreams occur, the more intrusive the caresses of incubi and succubi become. We are dealing with the flow of erotic experiences into erotic dreams, the more vivid the stronger the experiences. Only the national characteristics of poetic consciousness give the hero of these dreams the appearance of either a fiery serpent or a beautiful incubus.
Examples. The fight against night guests in Catholicism
In the city of Koblenz there lives a man who is bewitched in such a way that he, in the presence of his wife, but not with her, performs the entire act of love, as is customary between a man and a woman. He does this several times in a row. Despite the urgent tearful requests of his wife, he cannot stop committing such acts and, it happens, after several acts following one another, he cries out: “Let's start over!” However, bodily vision does not allow him to discern any face serving as his succubus. It happens that after daily similar temptations, this person falls completely powerless on the floor. When, after bringing him to his senses, he is asked the question of how this all happened and whether the succubus appeared to him in the guise of a woman, he usually answers that he sees nothing, but is so deprived of consciousness that he is unable to refrain. One woman was suspected of causing this damage, and she once threatened him with punishment for his refusal to fulfill her wish. There were no suitable laws or judges to condemn her. Bad rumors and strong suspicions were not enough for this. They said that without one's own confession or without the appearance of three legal witnesses, no one could be convicted. As if the signs of a crime and evidence based on grave or grave suspicion are not sufficient for punishment.
Regarding the second kind of people, namely: those forced by witches to have intercourse with demons, we cite the following case, told by Thomas of Brabant in his essay “On Bees.” One modest, pious girl he knew personally began to claim in confession that she had never agreed to sexual intercourse. This made me suspect that she still knew him. Under the threat of God's punishment for concealing her sin, she tearfully confessed to her confessor that she had been corrupted more mentally than physically by the actions of the incubus. The temptations of the incubus lasted for several years and could not be dispelled either by the sign of the cross, or by holy water, or even by the sacrament of the body of Christ, until finally, through prayer and fasting, the spell was destroyed.
Nieder, in his Anthill, reports that girls and men can be freed from the temptations of incubi and succubi in five ways:
1) the sacrament of confession;
2) holy exercises in the form of the sign of the cross and repetition of the prayer “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice”;
3) exorcisms;
4) change of place of residence;
5) careful excommunication pronounced by holy people.
Caesarius of Heisterbach (“Dialogues”) gives a story about the mistress of a hanged priest, who, after entering the monastery, was constantly tempted by an incubus to defilement. With the sign of the cross and sprinkling with holy water, she managed to drive him away from her, but only for a short time. When she said “Mother of God,” he disappeared like an arrow, but then reappeared, without, however, risking coming closer to her.
Regarding the third method, namely the sacrament of confession, Caesar of Heisterbach says that the above-mentioned former mistress of the priest was finally delivered from the persecution of the incubus only after a full confession. It was the same with one man from Lüttich, who freed himself from the temptations of a succubus through a full penitential confession. The same Caesar gives the example of one recluse who saved herself from the machinations of an incubus by pronouncing “Bless” (“Benedicite”). And before that, neither prayer, nor confession, nor other spiritual exercises could stop him from crawling into her bed.
Caesarius gives an example of how a change of location saves from incubi, and talks about the unfortunate daughter of a priest, dishonored by such a demon, going crazy from pain and transported by her father to another area, after which the tempting demon left her, but killed her caring father out of revenge. Caesar also talks about that woman to whom an incubus often appeared at night and bothered her with his temptation, and who because of this invited one pious friend to go to bed instead of her. This friend spent a night full of well-known anxiety, while the other, previously stubbornly tempted, slept completely calmly. Wilhelm notes that incubi appear most often to women and girls with beautiful hair. This happens because such women are more preoccupied with the futility of taking care of their hair.

But we communicated well, now during the massage she said that she sees damage in people. |

It happens that at night you feel that someone is lying on your bed, gently stroking you and you feel unprecedented excitement. Then something happens that people forget fear and look forward to their nightly lovers, despite the feeling of disgust. These stories are as old as time. In Russian beliefs, it was believed that the Evil One comes to the wives of soldiers or widows. And in foreign literature there is a clear classification. Succubi seduce men, incubi seduce women.
As a rule, they come when a person is in a drowsy state, and completely paralyze his body and will. The idea of an incubate combines two ideas: the first of them is about the heaviness that immobilizes and suffocates a person at night; the second and probably secondary is about nocturnal sexual intercourse with some non-human creature (demon).
These disgusting entities had the ability to take on a seductive bodily shell and appeared to people, as a rule, at night. An ethereal creature in the guise of a man was called an incubus (“lying on”). A demon in female guise - a succubus (“to lie under”) - appeared before men.
The incredible sexual attractiveness of these creatures was explained not only by their seductive appearance, but also by their ability to subtly sense the emotions and secret desires of a person. A luxurious woman or a young man full of strength - no matter what form the demons took - intercourse with them brought unearthly pleasure, which was accompanied by inexplicable fear and confusion.
The appearance of these insidious representatives of the dark world deserves special attention. A succubus is always a maiden of unearthly beauty and ideal build, generating unbridled desire in her lover-victim.
The situation is different with the appearance of the incubus. The shameless seducing demon could appear in the form of various animals, birds or snakes. The image of an incredibly handsome, full of strength man could be replaced by the devilish appearance of an ugly creature similar to a goat. It was believed that women were much more sinful than men, and had a wide variety of, often base and perverted, secret desires. For this reason, attractive appearance was not as important for an incubus as it was for a succubus. Often the tempters took the form of their victim's deceased lover.
Succubi and incubi embody unfulfilled desires. All fantasies, even the wildest ones. The stronger a person’s desire, the more energy the demon will receive, so everything is used - from an erotic appearance to the most secret fetishes and desires.
The nature of incubi and succubi
Who are they, the rulers of transcendental love? The most common explanation is given, as always, by the ubiquitous psychiatrists: this, they say, is a special form of self-hypnosis, when a person cannot realize the moment of transition of consciousness into a trance state. It is curious that the same psychiatrists, when their patients try to explain their “excessive” sensations with hypnosis, make a diagnosis: Kandinsky-Clerambault syndrome, or, more simply, delusion.
Church professors believe that these are demons - messengers of the devil. It is in this exquisite way that they destroy human souls, that is, they lead them to eternal destruction. But who is the devil? Evil spirit - answers the church. What is spirit? Not a single religion has a qualitative definition for it - a definition of its essence, and not a description of its properties.
The most probable hypothesis still seems to be the existence of a special, intangible world. There is no space and time - in our understanding of these categories. But it is possible that that world intersects at some level with our world, and this makes it possible for “otherworldly” inhabitants to explore our lives and ourselves.
Of course, the actions of incubi and succubi and evil spirits in general can hardly be called research, since they are disgusting and cause a feeling of disgust. But let's look at ourselves: who can guarantee that mice and rabbits experience joy when we vivisect them?
Modern evidence of encounters with incubi and succubi
Rimma talks about sexual contacts with an incubus as follows:
“When Someone comes, a chill spreads down her back, and goosebumps appear. She feels footsteps, the bed squanders when he lies down next to her. No matter how she lies, Someone climbs up from behind, she does not see him. At these moments, she is overcome by numbness , she cannot, for example, turn over from her stomach, look at him. She says that only once she managed to overcome her fear and looked back when he was leaving the bed. She saw a whitish substance similar to a human silhouette. Everything was indistinct, but it was as if his eyes very beautiful, large and expressive.
“One day I saw his hand when he put it in front of me,” she recalled. - An ordinary male hand, sparse hair is clearly visible, the hand is cool. I tried to turn around, but he pressed on my shoulder, preventing me from looking. And he removed his hand."
Rimma says that sexual intercourse always occurs only in the position from the back. Feels the weight of a normal large man. Rimma actively objects to the assumption that she is dreaming all this, and that there is actually no physical presence, because all the accompanying sounds - the creaking of the bed, breathing, noise - all this persists. But such meetings did not take place with their husbands. Usually the creature came when her husband left for work early in the morning, and she had to get up later. Sexual intercourse always ended with orgasm, and Rimma noticed that she regulates the onset of orgasm herself and achieves it when she wants: either soon, or over time. It's as if the creature guesses or knows her physiology.
Rimma firmly states that she receives pleasure from alien beings much sharper and better than from earthly men. Although she does not refuse earthly ones and regrets that her marriages or courtships fall apart.
I.R. from Vyatka:
“It all started in 1986. We were sleeping with my husband. Or rather, he was sleeping, and I heard some noise from the side. Then a man’s voice started talking to me, someone was stroking me, as if with his hands, kissing me and generally having an affair with me connection, like a man with a woman. And something strange is happening to me: my arms and legs don’t obey me, as if I were completely petrified. And only my mind is on strike against this violence.
This happened to me many times afterwards. Sometimes I managed to drive him away, sometimes he took possession of me. Then I physically felt his strong, elastic body. He seemed handsome to me, and one day I mentally asked him: “Show me your face.” And what did I see! Such a freak - covered in thorns, his face is fiery, his eyes are burning. After this time, spots that looked like splayed fingers began to appear on my body frequently in the morning, but they quickly disappeared. And when I was pregnant, I told him not to pester me anymore. And he growls: “Don’t get your hopes up, the child was conceived not from my husband, but from me.” I’m afraid to tell my husband about this, but I don’t know what to do..."
Fortunately, the fears of I.R. were in vain, the child was born absolutely normal, without any abnormalities. Now he is already in his ninth year, he looks very much like his father (I.R.’s husband). Like all boys, he is mischievous, but he studies well. The night visitor sometimes still visits I.R., but since then it’s like he’s taken too much water in his mouth.
Love demons did not bypass the stronger half of humanity. True, all demonologists are unanimously convinced that there are ten times fewer succubi than incubi. Perhaps this is true; cases of succubat are indeed less common. It used to happen that a succubus had the appearance of a beautiful woman. Lately, the invisible people have been acting more and more. Here is an excerpt from a letter from a Moscow artist:
“I experience all the actions of this force at night. I go to bed exactly at 23 o’clock. But then, after five to ten minutes, I begin to feel a slight but frequent vibration, shaking of my bed. Then something barely perceptible rolls under the blanket and as if elastic air envelops my body. The blanket begins to float above me... This is a “friend”, “bride”, and possibly “wife” (I live alone), mysterious, more refined in her feelings and desires, every day, without delay, at 11:10 p.m. she comes to see me on a date. She immediately, as if bored by the day's separation, begins to caress me with light, airy touches. The feeling of fear is long gone - caressed, accustomed to these "tendernesses", but still disgusting , unpleasant. But the most unpleasant thing for me is that after all the gentle touches I begin to feel the impact on the sexual center... I never allow myself to be brought to climax - I sharply throw up the blanket and say seven times: “Don’t touch!” stops, but after about an hour it starts again. And so three or four times a night you have to take up your shield and sword..."
“I’ve been living with succubi for a year now. I used to think that it was all fiction, but an incident from my life helped me realize that demons live among us. One girl came to live with me. At first it seemed okay. But then for some reason I I began to constantly see dreams in which I have sex with a girl who lives with me. This girl is my relative. After such dreams, you lose a lot of strength, it’s as if a hole opens in you (energetically sucking strength and giving in return to someone unknown negativity). After living for several months, I began to wonder why I was having dreams and feeling tired, and out of sinful will, I turned to a sorcerer. He advised me to move out; I was being tormented by a demoness (succubus). It was very strange to believe it."
