What's scary about mirrors? Myths, legends and truth about the mirror
For centuries, people have been suspicious of mirrors. They said that you need to be very careful with your reflection.
1.Hand on the mirror
Go to any mirror in your home and place your hand on the glass. Wait until you feel it. Sometimes it takes a long time, sometimes everything happens quite quickly. When you feel this, you will understand everything. You will withdraw your hand in horror. Something on the back of the glass will begin to rub against your palm. It won't hurt you. But now you know that it is there...
2.Mirror reflection
Try quietly approaching a mirror in the dark and looking into the mirror from the edge. If you were careful enough and did everything quietly, you may notice that the reflection appeared a little late behind you.
Next time you're alone in a room with a mirror, take a ruler and turn off the light. Stand in front of a mirror and quickly grab a lock of your hair. Measure it. Then look at which strand of hair your reflection is holding. Measure it. The length will be different.
You just outsmarted your reflection. Never turn your back on your reflection again. Now it knows that you know. There is no telling what it can do to you.
3.Mirror theory
What if every mirror has two sides. What if your reflection wants to keep you on your side? What if you can walk through the mirror, but your reflection stands in front of you, blocking your path? Try to touch the mirror so that the reflection does not follow you. Maybe the mirror surface is not a mirror at all, but only the cold flesh of your own reflection, pushing you back, holding you on the other side. Think about it. Maybe you are a reflection.
4. Breathing
Every time you exhale, a piece of your soul leaves you. You breathe it back in almost immediately, before anyone else can catch it. Almost...Have you ever breathed on a mirror so much that it fogged up? Never do this.
5.They are pretending
Have you ever looked at yourself in the mirror really closely? Have you ever looked into your reflection's eyes and tried to figure out what it was thinking? This may sound absurd and ridiculous. It's just your reflection, isn't it? Then why do you feel terrible about this thought? why when you look in the mirror do you get the feeling that someone is watching you? You trust your reflection because it looks like you. It seems like it can't do you any harm. But it takes advantage of your carelessness to disarm you. Take a closer look. If you make an unexpected move, you will notice that your reflection is always a split second late. It has great reactions and anticipates your every move, but it's still not fast enough. When you begin to notice this, never let him know that you understand everything. This is a big mistake. Just walk away and act like nothing happened. Now the advantage is on your side.
6.Your reflection
Is your reflection really copying you, or are you copying your reflection? Every morning when you wake up, you go to the bath and look at yourself in the mirror. No matter what you do, your reflection is forced to imitate your every move. It does this every day, over and over again. Have you ever thought about how much hatred your reflection has accumulated towards you? One morning you wake up as usual, and as you walk into the bathroom, your reflection picks up a pair of scissors. This time, you will be forced to repeat his actions. It will tightly grip the scissors in its hands, and you will do the same. This morning, completely against your will, your reflection will force you to stick scissors right into your eyes. You will scream and your reflection will scream too. But remember, your reflection can imitate your movements, but it cannot feel your pain.
7.Mirror people
People in the mirror are always watching you, studying your every move. They know everything about you... Your favorite dish, how you do your hair, your favorite clothes, even what you like to eat for breakfast. They never forget a single detail. They can't afford to make a mistake. They envy you. They want to be you. They are waiting for the day when they can change places with you. They will come out and take over your life, while you will find yourself on the other side of the mirror, with your nose pressed to the glass, watching them live your life. Never trust your own reflection. This is the only thing in the world that can easily replace you.
The opportunity to see reflections of oneself and the world around them has long fascinated people, forcing them to attribute magical properties to these furnishings.
Some consider mirrors dangerous, others are convinced that through them communication with other dimensions can be carried out. Or maybe it’s not the mirrors themselves, but the principle by which they are designed?
Soul on the other side
Even ancient philosophers paid enough attention to the image of a mirror. In European literature, the myth of the beautiful young man Narcissus, who died of love for his own reflection, which he saw in the water, is very popular.
The German Romantics have a concept that human existence is a “living mirror” that reflects “the soul of a friend or lover.” But a mirror is also a magical attribute. The image of a magic mirror is often present in world folklore and literature (stories about vampires, the myth of Perseus, “Alice through the Looking Glass” by L. Carroll).
In the legends of the devil, this latter passionately desires to take possession of a person’s shadow or reflection, not because they symbolize his soul, but because they are his soul...
The mirror image contains a piece of a person’s spiritual “I,” which is what evil forces take advantage of. In the Middle Ages, mirrors were considered the privilege of the elite. When Marie de Medici was about to marry the French king Henry IV, she was presented with a mirror made by Murano craftsmen as a wedding gift from her native Venice.
Its price was one hundred and fifty thousand francs - huge money at that time... The mirror was very small - the size of a book - and was inserted into a frame decorated with precious stones.
Nowadays, wealthy people sometimes equip so-called “mirror rooms” in their homes. The walls, and sometimes the ceilings and even the floors, consist entirely of mirrors. However, no one likes to live in such a room all the time. Usually this is either a hall, or a bathroom or dressing room, where people do not spend much time.
Mirrors turn a room into an endless suite of rooms and reflections. But we also see ourselves “multiplied” in them. And if at first it seems funny, then over time it causes a feeling of discomfort and discomfort. We are literally haunted by our own reflections...
It was not for nothing that the Spanish Inquisition had this type of torture in its arsenal: a person was locked for several days in a mirrored room-box, where “doubles” looked at him from everywhere, repeating his every move. Most often, by the end of the period of imprisonment, the prisoner went crazy...
Souls in mirrors
Everyone, of course, knows that, according to custom, it is necessary to cover mirrors if there is a dead person in the house. The fact is that, according to legend, a mirror can “capture” the soul of the deceased, which is still in the house for some time after death, and it will remain in it forever. This is why it is advisable to exercise caution when purchasing antique mirrors.
Thus, Americans Tim and Judy Corwins inherited a wardrobe with a large mirror, which was once a wedding gift to Tim’s grandmother. The wardrobe was placed in one of the rooms, which eventually became a nursery. One evening, while putting her child to bed, Judy noticed a strange flickering coming from the mirror.
The young woman decided that she had simply imagined it. But the next evening it all happened again, and this time she saw in the mirror the ghost of an old woman in a dark dress and a white hat... Subsequently, Tim’s father remembered that in his youth he also saw a flickering light in this mirror.
But his wife, Sarah, told much more interesting things. It turned out that one day she saw herself in the mirror walking down the street with her neighbor. And another time, a picture of a military battle in which her brother Wayne died opened before her. Two months later, Wayne was actually killed in the war...
After that, the cabinet was taken to the closet, where it stood until the mistress of the house died... In general, the Corvins couple had to remove the cabinet with the mirror from the nursery...
Another case. The newlywed family purchased a very beautiful antique handmade mirror at auction. After he was hanged in the bedroom, both husband and wife began to have nightmares at night. And the same ones: as if a terrible fire was raging in their house...
It turned out that the previous owner of the mirror was a lonely elderly woman who inherited it from relatives who died as a result of... a fire! The flames destroyed the people, but somehow spared the mirror. When the couple removed the mirror from their apartment, the nightmares stopped completely.
Another example of a “mirror” nightmare is the story that recently happened to 20-year-old student Joseph Birch and 43-year-old artist Sotiris Charalambous. Birch and Charalambous rented an apartment together. One day they picked up an old mirror on the street, thrown away by the owners, and brought it home.
Over the next five months, both were plagued by various troubles, including those related to health and finances... In addition, something strange began to happen in the apartment. So, Sotiris woke up screaming one night from a sharp stabbing pain. He is convinced that the mirror was its source.
Both neighbors also saw “flickering shadows”, “glimpses of black darkness” and luminous balls in the mirror. And after Sotiris decided to paint the mirror frame, the men began having nightmares. One day Joseph woke up and found that his entire body was covered with red scratches...
Birch and Charalambous put the mystical mirror up for auction on eBay for $200, without hiding its history. They immediately started receiving offers. One person even said that he would buy a “mirror of nightmares” as a gift for his ex-wife...
Death on the other side
According to legend, the French queen Catherine de' Medici owned a mirror with which she killed her enemies. It was made by the most skilled alchemists. The queen gave the mirror to the unwanted, and soon they died.
It reflected rays of light in such a way that if a person looked into it, it provoked a cerebral hemorrhage. After the death of the victim, Catherine sent reliable people to pick up the mirror, and it was again in her possession...
It has long been forbidden for pregnant women to look in the mirror. During childbirth, all mirrors were removed from the room. It was not recommended for children to look in the mirror either. And even nowadays, parapsychologists do not advise hanging around in front of a mirror for a long time.
This is due to the fact that this piece of furniture is capable of accumulating external energy and then radiating it into the surrounding space. And the consequences of this process for health and psyche may be unpredictable.
By the way, the same property allows you to see in the mirror pictures of the future, past, or events occurring at a great distance. True, in order to control mirror energies, a magician or fortuneteller must enter a trance. There is a belief that a mirror can also predict negative events: breaking it means bad luck. This story happened in the family of my friends.
For no apparent reason, a mirror hanging in the hallway cracked and split in half. A few days later, the owner of the house, a middle-aged woman who had not previously been seriously ill, suddenly died of a stroke. Perhaps the mirror caught the “energy of death” hovering around... Mirrors do not “give a sign”, prophesying misfortune, they react to already existing destructive energies, say parapsychologists.
Going nowhere
This extremely strange and mysterious story happened to one resident of the city of S. The events I describe took place in real life, I only changed the name of the main character. But, I’ve probably tired you, dear readers, with my preface, so I’ll move on to the story.
Irina - this is the name of the main character of my story, was a single woman, worked as a lawyer and lived a quiet, happy life in a cozy small apartment, did not believe in ghosts and spirits and considered them stupid stories. But something happened that simply turned her worldview and life upside down.
Irina returned from work late in the evening, tired and exhausted. The only thing she wanted was to sit on the sofa and relax in front of the TV with a cup of tea.
- Home... What happiness! — the woman thought, turning the key in the lock. The door opened, but what she saw was like a bad dream. The curtains were torn off, chairs were scattered on the floor, and pieces of crockery simply littered the apartment.
- What the…?! - flashed through the head of the poor housewife. Irina began to look around the living room in bewilderment, the comfort of which was only memories.
But suddenly, out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a white figure near the closet.
The woman turned around in fear, but saw no one.
“Strange...” she muttered.
I must say that in Irina’s apartment there was a huge antique mirror framed in a gilded oak frame. It was there that, as it seemed to the woman, a white figure dived.
It was already late at night when Irina finished cleaning up this mess. Some luxury items were completely ruined, such as the dressing table, which bore claw marks as if a pack of angry cats had sharpened their claws on it.
Exhausted and upset, Irina went to bed. But peace and quiet did not visit her in her sleep. Around midnight she woke up from some strange noise. It sounded like someone was rattling the remains of dishes in the kitchen. The poor girl's soul sank into her heels, quiet steps approached her bedroom.
“Lord, thank you for locking the door,” she whispered.
Someone knocked on the door, but, finding it locked, headed into the hall. Irina overcame her fear and approached the closed door. She decided to see who was causing mischief in her apartment today and put her face to the door frame. What she saw amazed her. A white translucent silhouette of a girl in a long shroud was heading into the hall. In the hall there was an old mirror described above. The ghost, gliding through the air, approached him and... disappeared into him. Shocked Irina could not take her eyes off this spectacle. She spent the rest of the night shaking under the covers, her eyes wide with fear.
The next day, our heroine discovered the same mess as the day before. That’s when she believed in the other world, because its messenger lived with her in the same apartment! It was simply dangerous to wait any longer, because today the ghost tore the pillows, and tomorrow he will decide to do the same with the mistress of the house. Irina went to the church to the priest, asking to bless her apartment. But to her amazement, he called her story the delusions of a schizophrenic and flatly refused to go to Irina’s home. The desperate woman with a fallen heart left the church.
- What to do? I can’t live with THIS in the same apartment,” she thought as she walked home.
- Wait, honey! - Irina suddenly heard. Turning around, she saw in front of her an old gypsy woman who always collected taxes on the church porch. “As I see, you need my help,” she continued after a short silence.
- What kind of help? “I don’t understand you,” Irina was surprised.
“I know everything,” answered the old woman, narrowing her cunning eyes. “There is a ghost living in your house, but I can kill him, just give me money.”
- How?! Can you shoo him away? ABOUT! I am so glad! How much should I give you? - Irina asked, beaming with happiness.
“And give as much as you have,” said the old gypsy woman. Irina gave her everything that was in her wallet. It is unlikely that she would trust some beggar gypsy, but now, having heard that she could save her from the painful fear that had taken possession of her soul, she did not hesitate to give away everything that was in her wallet.
Arriving at Irina’s apartment, the sorceress went to the ill-fated mirror. How she could find out about his existence remained a mystery to Irina, because she did not tell anything about him.
“This is where the evil spirits hid,” said the old woman, tapping on the frame. “Let’s start expelling your neighbor,” she added.
The witch put a candle in front of the mirror and began to speak in some strange language. At that moment, in the mirror, as if in a portal, a girl in a white dress became visible, she began to answer the questions asked by the gypsy. Irina looked at this with fear and interest. Meanwhile, the conversation between the spirit and the old woman rose to a higher tone, and the air in the room began to heat up. Suddenly, the mirror exploded, fragments scattered in all directions. The ghost flew up to the ceiling with a howl and began to rush from side to side, looking for a way out and not finding it. Finally, he flew out the window, breaking the glass and disappearing into the evening darkness.
- Ugh! How stubborn she was, she barely spoke,” the old woman exhaled. After listening to a whole stream of confessions, the gypsy went home.
After the ritual of expulsion, everything stopped and the heroine of our story continued to enjoy life without any poltergeists and other mysticism.
As it turned out later, in this apartment, in front of that same mirror, a girl shot herself to death out of unhappy love, and her restless spirit moved into him, going out at night to wander around the old apartment.

A long time ago, a certain extremely vain man came to the palace to ask for the hand of the imperial daughter. The emperor was very surprised, but said that he would give him his daughter if he brought an object in which the princess could see herself. This seemed like an impossible task, because at that time people did not yet have mirrors, no one even knew about the possibility of the existence of such an object!
The groom wandered for a long time in search of an unprecedented ransom, until he finally found in a deserted place a tightly sealed barrel with magical hieroglyphs on the lid. He erased the spell and opened the mysterious vessel. And in the barrel sat the devil himself, once walled up there by an immaculate hermit monk! Delighted by the unexpected salvation, the evil one promised the liberator any reward. He asked for an object that could reflect the imperial daughter. Having received the mirror from the devil, the groom again appeared at the imperial palace. However, the ruler turned out to be not as honest as the enemy of the human race, and ordered the beheading of the groom, who thought too much of himself, and took the mirror for himself.
From a mythological point of view, there is much more good to be said about the mirror than bad. From this position, the mirror personifies truthfulness (after all, it reflects what really is! X sincerity, purity, enlightenment, self-knowledge. Such ideas about the mirror originate in ancient times, when it was associated with the sun and the moon, which were then believed , reflect the divine light, or even with the entire sky. In ancient India, the god Brahma saw himself and all the wonders of his power in a magic mirror, which in Sanskrit was called maja; by the way, language historians believe that the word “magician” arose from maja - this is, without. doubts, clearly demonstrates that the mirror has always been perceived as an object filled with good magic.
The mirror can reflect not only the person himself and the space around him, not only what is currently happening in distant lands, but also the past. Here it would be appropriate to briefly retell the legend that was born in the Russian North.

“On the big island of Solovetsky, this happened a long time ago, during the reign of Tsar Peter. The fisherman Mikola drowned while returning from fishing. There was neither a strong wind nor a big wave, but he sank like a stone to the bottom, even though he had been fishing for many years.
Well, there's nothing to do. They placed the dead man under the icon. At night, his son Frol began to read a prayer book at the tomb. Suddenly he looks: the towel, which was usually used to cover the mirror, has slipped off. This is not good. Frol came up to straighten the towel and inadvertently glanced in the mirror. And there is a hut, in the hut there is a cradle, in the cradle a baby rocks...
A moment later he was already taking his first steps, and now he was playing with the cat, then he turned into a youth, then into a young man, and Frol recognized his father in him. And the mirror shows further. Frol sees how Mikola conspires with a rich gentleman on the Kola Bank and persuades him to transport him to Solovki. Let's swim. The sea became agitated, the master felt bad, and he lay down on the bottom of the boat next to his chest. And Mikola lifted the unconscious passenger and threw him over the side - only the circles spread across the water. And then, as if nothing had happened, he continues on his way.
Frol started to shrink away from the mirror, but still found the strength to watch his father’s life to the end: how he buried a chest under a birch tree on Kuzovy - this is an island halfway to Solovki - how he built a new house for himself and lived in complete contentment. And then the mirror shows: Mikola teaches his son to take the first steps, then set the sail on the boat...
Frol saw everything in the mirror - right up to that very night when that same drowned gentleman rose from the calm water, grabbed Mikola by the throat and dragged him into the depths of the sea. And then the mirror became foggy, and a long-haired woman appeared in it, all as if translucent, and said: “Dig a chest from under a birch tree and give it to the monastery to the abbot, so that he can atone for his father’s sins.” He did just that."
But what Frol did is not so important. It is much more interesting to find out what kind of woman appeared in the foggy glass (well, how can one not remember the Central American god Tezcat-lipoka with his smoking, that is, clouded mirror!). Experts in Russian folklore can tell you about this. They, without any doubt, will explain that the Mirror appeared to Frol - the soul of the mirror, its inhabitant and ruler. She lives in a world of reflections that changes along with the reflected picture. Her appearance is quite difficult to describe: it is changeable, because she is just a shadow, a ghost. Usually the Mirror is generally invisible, and appears only under special circumstances: in moments of strong emotional excitement or anxiety among household members and at night. Then she, who does not know sleep, simply has fun: she shows herself everything that she remembers during the day, or even just her own fantasies and inventions. Therefore, knowledgeable people do not advise looking in the mirror at night - you never know what nonsense the Mirror will show!
You should not look in the mirror during a thunderstorm either: the Mirror is so afraid of lightning and thunder that it literally loses its mind and can reveal God knows what to the eyes of the observer. The mirror is strongly attached to its habitat. She loves to look at familiar faces, familiar objects. Therefore, you cannot hang a mirror from room to room, much less give it into the wrong hands.
If someone dies in the house, the Mirror is terribly worried, grieves and calls the deceased to her, maybe even, luring him to her, to show his face in the mirror. Therefore, the custom is observed to cover the mirror if there is a dead person in the house.
But the Mirror does not like evil spirits and does not want to take on its appearance, therefore brownies, kikimoras, vostrukhi and other evil spirits are not reflected in the mirror. If this still happens, it means that the Mirror fell into the power of an evil sorcerer, changed its good-natured and cheerful character, and became hostile to people.
Another circumstance can spoil the character of the Mirror. If there are several mirrors in a room, their inhabitants are jealous of each other and try to harm their rivals by sending destruction upon them. This causes mirrors to fade, crack, and distort the image. So it is better to have only one mirror in the room.
The greatest joy for the Mirror is when its mirror lets out sunbeams. Then she can get out of the glass into our world, to freedom. Together with a sunbeam, she flies around all the distances of the Earth in an instant, and then returns to her mirror refreshed, renewed and happy.
Therefore, she knows about everything that happens in the world. At the same time, the Mirror, usually living in the other world, knows not only the past and present, but also the future. This is what the Slavs' mythological view of the magical properties of mirrors was based on.

Mirrors have been shrouded in mystery since their inception. They were seen as portals to other worlds, magical attributes that could show the future and change fate.
Human imagination has made mirrors part of legends. Despite the fact that most of them have no rational basis, they are still alive.
The secrets of mirrors that scientists talk about
- A mirror can cause hallucinations. The human brain is a unique instrument, the capabilities of which have not yet been fully explored. To test the version of hallucinations, it is enough to conduct a small experiment. You need to sit in front of the mirror, dim the light and just carefully examine your reflection.
After a while, you will feel that your face does not belong to you; a fantastic copy of yourself will look at you from the mirror. Quite often, such experiments lead to people beginning to see strange and, sometimes frightening, visions in the mirror surface. In scientific circles, this effect is called “meeting the other self” and is successfully used in psychiatry.
Mirror therapy. One of the striking examples of how a highly efficient human mind can be deceived was shown by an experiment with phantom limbs. The mirror is installed vertically so that the reflection of the healthy limb “replaces” the missing one. When a person, for example, sees both of his hands (although he has lost one of them), it seems to him that he again has a healthy body, he cannot leave the feeling that the reflection in the mirror is his hand.
Real and fake mirrors. A normal reflection shows a person "upside down", with the right side on the right and the left side on the left. But there are also real mirrors, or as they are also called “true” mirrors. The reflection in them is shown as other people see you.
This effect can also be observed at home. Two mirrors are installed perpendicular to each other; you need to look at the reflection from these mirrors.
- A “smart” mirror exists. This is an unusual media medium that is designed to select and display advertising to the target audience. As soon as a person approaches, the mirror comes to life and shows a video that could potentially interest the person who approaches.
The miracle mirror has a special system built into it that recognizes and processes the image. It determines age, gender, emotional state and displays a suitable video on the screen. The probability of hitting the target is 85%, but experts are working to increase the accuracy of the system to 98%. Similar technology has been used for the needs of the beauty industry. A media personality can provide expert advice to help you look your best.
The mirror is the key to the secret. There is a whole movement in art associated with mirrors. You can see what is depicted in many anamorphic paintings only in reflection. Leonardo da Vinci is recognized as the creator of this trend.
Mirror rides
Mirrors can not only scare people with their amazing capabilities, but also entertain. At the beginning of the 20th century, the so-called Palaces of Illusions came into fashion. One of the first mirror attractions appeared at the Paris World Exhibition and was simply wildly popular.
Its operating principle is simple: a huge pavilion was built up with a number of full-length mirrors. Thus, the one who entered inside had a crazy illusion of being in a crowd. Add to this the suspiciousness of the people of that time and you get a frenzied excitement around the unique attraction.
Even today, mirrors are often used to create unusual effects for the amusement of crowds. At the Disney amusement park there is an Infinity Hall, where two mirrors are installed opposite each other. Naturally, the reflection of the mirrors in each other is multiplied an infinite number of times, this became the main “highlight” of the attraction.
Mysticism of mirrors
A huge number of beliefs and legends are associated with mirrors, which have become so firmly entrenched in our lives that mystical rituals have become a habit for some:
If you break a mirror, don’t despair, you need to throw the salt over your shoulder, turn clockwise, collect the mirrors in paper and throw them away.
Another persistent myth is that vampires are not reflected in the mirror. This is due to the fact that otherworldly entities in our world are only guests, and mirrors for them are a portal to enter another world. That is why they will not be able to admire their own reflection.
In a house with a deceased person, the first thing to do is cover the mirrors. It is believed that it is through the mirror that terrible ghosts can enter the house. In addition, the soul of the deceased himself can be “stuck” in the mirror and suffer until the end of time.
Mirrors can attract good luck if you work with them correctly. Standing in front of the mirror, smile at yourself and tell yourself that you can handle anything. Positive energy will literally be absorbed into the mirror and will become an excellent protector of your home.
For the same reason, you need to look in the mirror when you return home if you forgot something. With your reflection, you will restore the protection of your home and can safely continue on your way.
There is a belief that a mirror can double profits if it reflects beautiful things, or cause financial ruin if it reflects unpleasant things - dirty laundry, a toilet bowl or any other garbage.
The most famous mirrors
Mirrors rarely have names. This is such a familiar thing in the house that you remember about it only when it is not at hand at the right time. However, there are mirrors about which they write stories, make films, or dream of seeing at least a glimpse.Mirror. Entrance to another world
Bagua Mirror
It is known for its unique ability to repel negative energy and is one of the essential tools for any follower of the Feng Shui philosophy.
The shape of the mirror itself and the individual sectors on its sides form a powerful tandem to attract positive energy and reflect negative energy. Like any tool, it can be used for good and for harm. Perhaps only Feng Shui masters know the complete rules. We’ll tell you about the most important thing: you shouldn’t look in this mirror.
Mysterious Chinese mirrors
There are bronze mirrors, the mystery of which is still being puzzled by the best minds of mankind. They were found in several ancient Chinese tombs and consist of a small disk with a bronze reflective surface. On the reverse side they are decorated with hieroglyphs and mystical signs.
The main mystery is that the sun's rays falling on its surface trigger the appearance of light signs that are in no way connected with the reverse side of the mysterious object.
The technology for creating such mirrors still remains a mystery to humanity.
Bronze mirror of Yata no Kagami
Yata-no-kagami literally translates as “eight-span mirror,” or rather a very large copper mirror. Legend has it that it was cast to lure out the offended goddess of beauty, Amaterasu, who had taken refuge in a cave. Seeing her reflection, she changed her anger to mercy and light returned to the world. And the mirror of Yata-no-kagami, according to legend, still preserves the appearance of the goddess.
The most interesting fact about him is that no mere mortal has ever seen him. It is located on the territory of an ancient temple and is carefully guarded as one of the symbols of imperial power (along with the jasper pendants of Yakasani no Magatama and the sword Kusanagi no Tsurugi). The appearance of the mirror is also unknown to anyone, because it is stored in a special case, which is sealed personally by the emperor himself.
Cellini's magic mirror
Every beautiful woman would happily agree to preserve her youth forever. For a long time, a cherished thing for many ladies was a magic mirror that could make this dream come true.
According to legend, the sculptor Benvenuto Cellini managed to create a similar thing. The first owner of this coveted item was Diane de Poitiers, the main favorite of the French emperor of the 16th century. It is believed that it was the mirror that helped Diana become the only and beloved woman of the monarch, who was 20 years younger than her, it also attracted a huge crowd of fans to her feet and gave her eternal youth.
Mirror of Benvenuto Cellini. The secret of eternal beauty.
The owners of this mysterious mirror are considered to be Isadora Duncan, Marlene Dietrich and Anna Judique. Maybe this is why the beauty of these women inspired poets and composers, and they themselves are still considered the standards of femininity.
